The next big thing on Esports?

Gaming Frog is an exciting new venture connecting video gamers across the globe and rewarding them with cash and prizes. Sebastian Duque and his partner Lucas Romero were lamenting one day that they couldn’t make money playing video games. But that got them thinking: what if they could? What would it look like?

The conversations, ideas, and brainstorming resulting in Gaming Frog, an eSports platform that allows video gamers to participate in 1 vs 1 tournaments and multiplayer tournaments for cash and prizes. The partners and their team are working on the Beta version for Android and iOS now, and accepting beta testers.

“Video games have been part of my life since I was born,” Duque said. “My dad gave me my first Nintendo console when I was a year old. When I saw an opportunity of making a business around something I have been very passionate about all of my life, it was a no brainer – I had to start Gaming Frog.”

Juan and Lucas are motivated by the thought of making a living from doing something they love, and excited to share it with other video game lovers.

“My greatest fear is building something that no one wants to use. I think at some point every entrepreneur out there is afraid to fail so it’s very hard to embrace this as part of being a business owner,” Duque said.  “Embracing failure positively requires a leap of faith, but once you jump over the hurdle, you’ll understand that fearing failure only holds you back from realizing your full potential.”

The potential for Gaming Frog is large, and makes the team excited every day.

“Honest conversations spark great ideas. Most, if not all, of our team are part time video gamers, we have weekly brainstorming sessions that could make are platform’s experience richer for our users. Listening to our team and our users are our number one source of ideas.”

And the most significant reason they cannot wait for the Beta launch.

“The most important thing we are working on right now is our Beta. The entire team is committed and working hard on releasing our MVP (minimum viable product). We are eager to show video gamers our idea and how they can make money playing their favorite games,” Lucas said.

Duque and Romero are businessmen in other industries as well, and have modeled their business approach using the advice shared in “Rework” by David Heinemeier Hannson, one of the founders of Basecamp and developer of Ruby on Rails.

“As David Heinemeier said, ‘market like drug dealers.’ Make your product so good, so addictive, so “can’t miss” that giving customer a small free taste makes them come back with cash in hand…You should know that people will come back for more. If you’re not confident about that, you haven’t created a strong enough product.”

Gaming Frog will be that product that gamers keep coming back to, to put a little extra cash in their pocket or cash in on their gamesmanship. The founders want to make that as fun, simple and organized as possible.

“Gaming Frog’s goal is to provide a way for non-professionals and professionals to participate in eSports tournaments in a simpler and organized way.  In 10 years, I see Gaming Frog as one of the biggest players in the eSports industry and the largest video game tournament service provider in the world.”
