When Nintendo revealed the NES Classic, the question asked right behind “When will more be stocked” was “When is the Super Nintendo version happening?” Now that question has an answer: a lot sooner than you think. Revealed today, the Super NES Classic edition is pretty much what you’d envision; a palm sized SNES with an HDMI output, two controllers, and a all-star selection of games for $79.99 set for release on September 29th.

But I know what you really want to know: Are you actually going to be able to purchase one of these? According to a statement to Kotaku, Nintendo says they “will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.” In that same statement, it is indicated that production will run until the end of 2017. So, it’s still difficult to say how that will pan out for consumers looking to relive Secret of Mana. We’ve posted ways to console hunt before with the Switch’s release, I recommend taking another look at that and getting ready.
Sound off in the comments: Do you think the game selection for the SNES Classic is the best it could be? Are you going to join the hunt? Let us know!
