The mystery of LEDA is coming to an end. BBC America announced that their thrilling sci-fi drama, Orphan Black, is ending after its upcoming fifth season in 2017. The show, which introduced the world to the many sides of Canadian darling Tatiana Maslany and created Clone Club, will put an end to their series-long mysteries and potentially offer up a resolution to the Clone War (see what I did there…).
But what exactly are you hoping to see? Orphan Black is sure to deliver plenty of climactic moments and twists for its swan song season. However, with four years of mysteries under their belt and characters we’ve grown to love, there is a lot that could happen or be answered. So, we went right to the source when it comes to the ideal Orphan Black Season 5 wishlist: Clone Club.
We asked, you answered! Here are just a few responses of what some Clone Club members had to say about what they’re looking forward to see (or DESPERATELY need answered!) in Season Five. Scroll through the slider below to read more.
Before the show wraps up next season, I would really like to get certain things answered:
First being, the mystery surrounding Kira. Is she or is she not a “lizard”? We know she’s an anomaly for being the only daughter of a clone (so far), but why would that give her inhuman powers? With all the Brightborn babies this season, I really thought Kira was perhaps part of a Brightborn experiment.
Secondly, I’m extremely curious about the mystery surrounding Delphine’s shooting. I’d like to know why Detective Duko was trying to kill her. Why did Dr. Ian Van Lier save her, and how did she end up on the island in the hands of the mysterious bearded man? While still on the topic of Delphine, I’d really like to know more about her and her previous life. It’s no surprise she’s a fan favorite―and that would make a lot of us happy. I know that might prove difficult with Evelyne’s busy schedule.
Last but certainly not least, I would like a “sci-fi free” series finale. I’d love to see the clones living life and doing normal things. Moments like Helena caring for her new babies, Sarah and Kira being happy together, Cosima and Delphine finally adopting a puppy, etc. Some of the best scenes are the ones where all the clones are together, like in 2×10 and 3×10. I’d love to see something like that again involving all the clones, with Krystal, M.K. and Charlotte included. ― Nahrain Elia, 1/3 of @CloneClubTO
I’m looking forward to Rachel Duncan’s rise to power, and I hope that it will be developed over the season. It’s hard to say how much control she now has within Neolution. But what is clear is that she will not suffer any longer with people telling her that she is a disappointment or a waste. I think that she will be ruthless and terrifying.
On the science side of things, of course I want to see the clones treated and cured! I just want all of the clones—even Rachel Duncan—to be healthy and happy. I also want to explore the rest of the island, to find out what’s up with the commune where Delphine has been hiding out (or held hostage), and to learn what the deal is with P.T. Westmoreland, who has apparently been alive since the 1700s. We got to see more peeks behind the Neolution curtain than ever in Season Four, and I’m looking forward to what Season Five will reveal.
And since this is our final season, this may be our last chance to see our favorite LEDA clones. I want them all to make an appearance! I want Krystal to join forces with the rest of Clone Club (even if she never does recognize that she’s a clone), I want to see M.K. making connections with the others and helping out where she can, and I especially want Tony Sawicki to just sort of roll into town. ― Nina Nesseth, Cosplayer
There are so many characters in this show, and I feel like each and every one of them is more than what we initially think they are. I’m dying to know what’s the deal with Kira? How does she just know things?! And speaking of Kira, what’s Cal hiding? He has to have a larger role in all of this. This father/daughter duo has more potential for drama than an episode of Maury!
As for the series finale, I want it to be brutal and twisted. I want to be full of emotions (mostly bad ones―don’t hate me, Clone Club!). I don’t want a happy or sappy ending. I want heartbreak and pain. (Pardon me, I’m starting to sound like Rachel!)
Most importantly, I think I can speak for Clone Club when I say the thing I want to see the most is Tatiana Maslany being awarded a much-deserved Emmy. ― Christina Yousif, Cosplayer and 1/3 of @CloneClubTO
Okay, the 10 things I really want to see are:
- I want to see Sarah finally settling down and be the mother Kira always wanted. I feel like their relationship has been really strained and that poor kid needs a break from being on the run.
- I want to see Beth alive, but Season Four pretty much crushed any hopes that she didn’t die.
- I’m 99% sure Cosima will be cured. But of course, I want to see her and Delphine finally have some stability and just be okay. Like, for them to end on a good note, ya know?
- I want Alison to get pregnant. I’m hoping that the cure will also cure all the LEDAs with their inability to have children.
- I want Helena to have her kids, which I’m sure will bring back Jesse―they’re cute together and she deserves happiness.
- I love Krystal, but I’m not sure what I want to see with her that we haven’t already.
- Hopefully Felix can get his act together and finally not be in the middle of everything. And hopefully Adele will come back for him.
- Rachel… I hope Sarah kills her!
- I think at least one LEDA clone that’s been around since Season One has to die. I think it would be too obvious to kill Cosima at this point, so I’m thinking either Alison or Sarah. I’m hoping it’s Rachel since Sarah and Rachel are the big good vs. evil characters throughout the whole series. But Orphan Black doesn’t do happy endings, so I’m sure whatever we think, we’ll be wrong.
- And finally, I really hope Cophine adopts Charlotte. ― LC Morgan, Graphic Artist
The top mystery for me is Kira. What is with her psychic abilities and rapid healing?! Like, your kid seems to have a telepathic link to all of your genetic identicals―which the clones don’t even have―and yet none of the characters are interested in this?
I get it. There’s a bunch of people out to kill the clones and they need to find a cure for this illness that’s going to kill them regardless, and that’s obviously VERY pressing, but everything about Kira is so weird and it drives me crazy that no one notices!
I just want to know why/how/what these abilities mean and if they’ll ever be used in a practical way on the show. They could use her abilities to find and cure all the other clones (after all, “there are so many we don’t even know,”) and that would be super satisfying, but I guess we’ll see if that payoff happens. ― Zaira Gaudio Fry, Marketer
With Orphan Black ending, there are a few things that I would love to see in Season 5.
- The number one thing that I want from Season Five is Kira and Sarah together, safe, healthy and happy. Will I get this? The Season Four finale gives me some doubt, but crazier things have happened for sure. I’ve loved the evolution of Sarah, from someone who walked out of her daughter’s life to this fiercely protective mother who would move her kid to Iceland if it would keep her safe. (Arguably, she may have originally left to keep Kira safe, but now it’s very obvious that everything she does is for Kira and to keep her safe). I think that their relationship is one of the foundations of the show, and I want to see it continue. The clones and Kira have an odd connection, and I would like to see that explored too, but not if it means she’s without Sarah.
- While the Hendrix children’s absences were explained away this season, I would like to see them again. Like Kira and Sarah, I think Gemma and Oscar give Alison some really interesting motivations as a character. I love the exploration of mother and child themes throughout the series and it shows how much Alison loves her adopted children.
- I want Cosima to be healthy and happy. I actually thought this would be farther up the list, but Kira is so important to me, and Gemma and Oscar are a bit of a loose thread. We’ve been with Cosima since the beginning and it has always been a possibility that she wouldn’t survive the series, so I think I could be a tiny bit prepared for that. I certainly wouldn’t be happy with it, but with the reintroduction of Delphine, they don’t strictly need her for the science anymore. I felt like that was keeping her safe throughout most of Season Four because she had a function that none of the other clones could fill, so story wise, it wouldn’t make sense if she died before they discovered a cure… But now they have a cure! And I don’t know if that is strictly good news for Cosima. I want to see her happy and healthy at the end of all this.
A couple of other things:
- Where the heck is Cal and how is he involved in all of this mess? I’m still somewhat convinced that there is a missing thread here and he’s more involved than anyone suspected (perhaps even more involved than even he suspects?).
- When do we get a flashback scene of Beth introducing Cosima and Alison? I think Clone Club needs this.
- Kira meeting Gemma and Oscar.
- Charlotte meeting Kira.
- Did I mention everyone being happy and healthy?? I want that.
- When will we meet Helena’s twins? It has to be soon, right? ― Jackie Marion, Cosplayer
For me, what I want to see at the end of Orphan Black is a happy ending for “Cophine.” Maybe a marriage proposal or a wedding? I want that Lucas and Peyton driving off into the sunset kinda scene. Yes it’s cheesy, but even that type of scene still makes me smile thinking about it after all these years. Just knowing two fictional characters―who love each other so much―are somewhere out there happy together is a perfect ending. I also want Cosima to find other sick clones and help cure them. Maybe her and Delphine can open a private lab together to cure the clones? And I want Cosima to clone swap at least one last time.
Here are a few more wants:
- Sarah needs to get a proper haircut for once, and maybe use a little conditioner.
- I think Sarah, at the end of all the drama, should go into the police academy and actually become a cop like Beth. It’s a chance for her to have a normal life and raise her kid.
- Where are the mangoes?!
- I want to see the clones play a board game together, and Cosima has to be the one to teach Helena how to play! Maybe it’s Catan or Monopoly? ― Daneela Esho, 1/3 of @CloneClubTO
I’ve bounced back-and-forth when it comes to my wishlist with the last season of Orphan Black. Sometimes I want to see all the clones defeat Neolution and survive together with a happy ending, but ultimately I think one (or a few) of the LEDA clones do need to die in the final season. After Helena survived her assumed defeat, none of the clones―except for the CASTOR clones―have really faced the possibility of death (which has been great these last few seasons since they’re all amazing). However, with none of the LEDA clones dying and consistently surviving death, it’s given them an invincible quality, like The Vampire Diaries or The Originals. My guess is still with Helena, Rachel and/or maybe Sarah dying in the final season―it could potentially be anyone from the group (it is the last year, after all).
When it comes to the clones themselves, I have high hopes for all of them. But I think I want to see the most from Krystal. Every scene she is in is hilarious and a joy to watch―it’s a Tumblr masterpiece with the amount of GIFs she has helped create. She needs to brush up her investigative skills one more time and jump back into the mystery to get her vindication. She’s proven that she is somewhat aware of what is going on, even if she doesn’t fully understand.
Lastly, and maybe this is partly a fan theory as well, I would LOVE a showdown between Kira and Charlotte. Kira is supposed to have all these superpowers, so you know that she is special. However, people tend to forget that Charlotte came from the same world as Rachel―and we all saw what happened there. I would love if there was a big mystery surrounding the both of them and it turns out (twist!) Charlotte is evil. She has that Wednesday Addams quality to her and in horror movies, you can’t ignore the creepy little girl. ― Justin Carreiro, Staff Writer for The Young Folks
