You would think that the Game of Thrones presentation would be a highlight at Comic-Con, right? If you like seeing some of the cast interact outside of the heavy and dangerous politics of Westeros, then, of course, you’ll enjoy the panel. But if you’re looking for answers or any news on what’s next for the series, you’ll be disappointed.
News was sparse (or non-existent, really). Even the usual casting announcement video wasn’t presented this year at the Game of Thrones panel. A short video showing the audition tapes for the cast was nice, and I’m still going “whoa” over Gwendoline Christie’s audition. It mostly relied on the cast members and crew present to share their past experiences working on the show and talk about their characters.
The beginning of the panel began with a mash-up video of how hugely Game of Thrones has impacted pop culture.
Seth Meyers moderated the panel, which included Carice Van Houten (Melisandre), Conleth Hill (Varys), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Alfie Allen (Theon/Reek), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Liam Cunningham (Davos), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Hannah Murray (Gilly), director David Nutter, and producer Carolyn Strauss. You can watch the full panel and catch some of my favorite moments from the panel with my live-tweets below.
