The Babes of Game of Thrones

game of thrones

It’s pretty obvious that HBO’s Game of Thrones has a very good looking cast, but beyond what we see on the surface, many of the characters’ charisma plays into his or her “babe” status.

Four of the TYF staff writers (specifically Allyson Johnson, Melissa Berne, Bri Lockhart, and Jon Espino) had the very difficult task of choosing the most attractive of the Game of Thrones characters. With as many characters that there are, this list is narrowed down to eight of the most beautiful and charming. Obviously, this list is based on subjectivity. Feel free to share your favorite GoT characters in the comments!

Bri Lockhart: RIP, King in the North. Robb Stark was noble in intent but a bit too idealistic (like father, like son) to ever be a major player in a place like Westeros. I appreciated the showrunners fleshing out his character more, especially since it meant we were able to see more of Richard Madden’s extraordinarily handsome face. Fine, this one is a mostly shallow choice.

Jon Espino: She has had a hard life, especially stuck in a period where your gender lets others dictate your limitations for you. She is a true warrior, and possibly the most honorable person in all of Westeros. Her commitment to her oaths and the just causes she chooses to give her support to make her easily one of the best characters in the show. I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only person who wouldn’t mind if she ended up on the Iron Throne. Or even as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard (or Queensguard) to an equally powerful and worthy female.

[tps_title]6. Sansa Stark [/tps_title]

Melissa Berne: Okay, so in the beginning, I didn’t hate Sansa like many people did, but I didn’t love her either. However, four seasons later, Sansa is a survivor, has finally bossed up, and started playing this game too. While being stuck in King’s Landing, she did what she had to do because her ex-betrothed was a psychopath. Now, she’s with Little Finger and is spinning her own web of manipulation. Sansa is a dark horse, and I can’t wait to see where her story goes.

Bri Lockhart: A lot of people are quick to write Sansa off as a whiny little girl, but I think she’s a sleeper on the show—she’s managed to survive some pretty horrific situations using other people’s expectations of her against them. I’m curious to see where her character goes from here.

[tps_title]5. Margaery Tyrell[/tps_title]

Bri Lockhart: Played flawlessly by Natalie Dormer, Margaery Tyrell is one of the best contenders on the show. She’s smart, cunning, gorgeous, and manipulative in a non-malicious way.

Allyson Johnson: Natalie Dormer. That’s it. Done. For the sake of seeming professional, the character is silently devious, and Dormer brings a lot of charm and appeal to the role. She’s a character to watch out for.

[tps_title]4. Daenerys Targaryen[/tps_title]

Jon Espino: She has had a much rougher life than anyone else in the series. Her family was slaughtered, she was forced to leave her home, and she was sold into a marriage by her brother. All of these experiences would have understandably jaded any person, but she still holds on strong to her love, compassion, and conviction. Her cause is a noble one, but with a hint of vengeance. She is also the mother of DRAGONS, and fire does nothing to her. She has postponed her own personal quest just to free the slaved cities she has come across. It all prep work for when she gets to Westeros. She will be unstoppable, and we will be on her side every step of the way.

Melissa Berne: Since the beginning when her brother basically tried to make her a sex slave to get an army, the Khaleesi was not having it. She turned the situation around and decided to not be a slave to Khal Drogo, but a queen at his side, much to her brother’s dismay. She grew stronger and stronger as she stood up to him, even to the point of watching him die without even batting an eye. She made sure the Khal’s bloodriders knew that she was the boss. She continued on and was her people’s strength when her husband died. Dany’s courage and confidence has grown more with each season, and it’s such a treat to see. She is a survivor and strives. She pushes on and is ambitious. I love this girl.

[tps_title]3. Jon Snow[/tps_title]

Allyson Johnson: Sure, he’s kind of a dud sometimes and for most of the first three seasons wore a perpetual pout like a pro, but this is Jon’s season to shine (fingers crossed). Torn between loyalties, a badass of a swordsman and honorable but not to a fault, like his father Ned and brother Robb. He’s a character whose personal growth has been interesting to watch, even if it’s at an often times glacial pace. Also, Kit Harrington has won me over, and episode one of season five showcases some of his most self-assured acting to date. This is the Jon Snow I’ve been waiting to see onscreen.

Jon Espino: The bastard son of Ned Stark and *insert fan theory of who the mom is here*. He is the true hero of Westeros, even though everyone else doesn’t know it. He is also very bound by honor and oaths (the ones that matter at least). He is one of the only reasons the Wall is still up, and when the White Walkers come, he’ll probably be one of few people that will hold them off. It’s unfortunate he is stuck on the Wall, but Westeros needs its true defender to keep their best interests in mind: staying alive.

[tps_title]2. Arya Stark[/tps_title]

Melissa Berne: The child actors of this show were immensely impressive to me since season 1. Arya is young, but is so smart and a little badass. I’d be shitting my pants if I found myself in her horrendous situations. In one way, it’s sad seeing such a young person get so hardened; on the other hand, it’s thrilling to see her revenge story.

Bri Lockhart: Let’s talk about how much I adore that George R.R. Martin made of his most badass, tenacious, ruthless characters a young girl? Because it’s still stellar.

Jon Espino: This spunky little Stark is well on her way to becoming an assassin supreme. She has always stood up for what she believes in, for better or worse. Lately, her story has taken a darker path, full of murder and revenge, and we couldn’t be happier for her. While she’s going to learn to hone her skills, I’m sure she’ll return to the brave person we know her to be. Hopefully, with a little less bloodlust.

[tps_title]1. Tyrion Lannister[/tps_title]

Bri Lockhart: Tyrion’s wit was one of the first things to draw me into Game of Thrones. His heartbreaking character development and Peter Dinklage’s fabulous portrayal continue to make Tyrion one of the most consistently great characters in the cast.

Melissa Berne: He’s smart, hilarious and can be kind. He’s probably the most tolerable Lannister. I live for his one-liners.

Jon Espino: Always underestimated and disliked for being born different, an aspect that has always been completely out of his control. It is because of his birth that he has always had to be the smartest person in the room, arming himself with intelligence and cunning rather than brute force like his brother, or beauty like his sister. As a master tactician, he could turn the tide of any war, and his moral compass will only allow him to help someone worthy. His misfortune with love also gives him a sort of sweet appeal that makes you want to comfort him any way you can. Usually with booze.
