Season 3 of Downton Abbey is still quite a wait away (September for the Brits, possibly January 2013 for the US) but we are already hearing casting news. A few weeks ago we learned that Oscar-winner Shirley MacClaine had joined the DA series to play Lady Grantham’s American mother. Now Digital Spy is reporting that Matt Milne, who played Andrew in Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’, will be playing footman Alfred, nephew of O’Brien.
The plot lines for this next season are still under wraps but from these castings it is already looking to be exciting and drama-filled. My prediction is that Alfred will be filling the badboy hole that Thomas has left open since his ascension through the army.
