Treat Yo Self
I have to admit that my love for Parks and Recreation comes from Tumblr. I would see GIFs about the show all the time and it made me curious to actually watch the show. One of the very first videos/episodes I watched from the show was the one for “Treat Yo Self”. I was sold on the show after this. I started to catch up on all the episodes and have been watching it ever since, to the point that I even celebrate my own “Treat Yo Self” day once a year! It was extremely fun to see Tom and Donna celebrate their day again right before her wedding in the final season, and in Hollywood out of all places! One of the things I love the most about the show were all the pop culture references

April Singing to Andy in the Courtyard
This isn’t one of the shows biggest moments nor one of it’s absolute finest moments but it was the first one that embraced the inherent sappy nature of it’s show and let it roll. April and Andy fight over her favorite band not being Mouse Rat and to make it up to him, in a very un April like move, stands in the courtyard and sings one of his songs. It’s a chill inducing moment and one of the first that sold me on the emotional center of the show. There would be plenty more of these moments to come (Leslie and Ben getting engaged, their entire wedding episode, the Ron and Leslie episode from this finale season) but it was with April and Andy that we got our first taste of it.

Ron pulling his tooth out in the conference room
Some of my favorite scenes are the ones when the whole cast comes together. It is here when the viewer gets to witness the incredible chemistry between the actors. Along with it being one of my favorite scenes from the series, it also happens to be one of my top Ron Swanson moments. We all know Ron Swanson is a tough guy. He only eats meat, he shops at Food ‘n Stuff, and he builds his own furniture. He also enjoys knowing that people perceive him as the tough guy, and every so often that perception needs to be reaffirmed. In this specific moment, we see Ron physically reminding everyone just how tough he is.

They’re having the usual conference room meeting when Ron starts grunting and groaning about a toothache. Ben suggests a visit to the dentist. However, Ron Swanson doesn’t do dentists. He is too tough for them. So instead, he opts for a pair of pliers to do the job. What is great about this moment is that everyone is perfectly revealed as he’s pulling out his tooth. Ben is the first one to dash out of the room, Donna, in all her attitude, curses, April, fascinated, looks on, and poor Tom faints at the sight. Ron eventually lets us in on the secret: The dentist actually pulled the tooth out yesterday, but this was his chance to reinforce his toughness to the others. Classic Ron.

Every time Leslie was drunk
We all know Leslie Knope is always up for a good time. Whether it’s scrapbooking, working long, late hours on a project that seems impossible to accomplish, or attending the latest Li’l Sebastian event, she knows how to party. My favorite scenes are the ones where she may have had a little too much to drink because they show how much fun she can still be without being 100% in control of the situation. She might enjoy drinking more than eating waffles. Who am I kidding, there is nothing she enjoys more than waffles.

Ron asks for all the bacon and eggs you have
One of my favorite things about Parks & Rec is that it never let characters be defined by their quirks, unlike some other sitcoms that have lasted into double digit episode counts. Because the writers don’t bash us over the head with, say, Ron’s massive appetite for breakfast food and meat, it makes every bit revolving around it seem fresh. Case in point, one of the most memorable and funniest scenes in the show is a dejected Ron asking for “all the bacon and eggs you have.” It’s a short but hilarious scene, and it’s also a great example of what both the writers and Nick Offerman as an actor can do with mere seconds of screen time.
