Carl Sagan’s Cosmos: A Personal Voyage was one of the defining television specials of its time. It has been watched millions of times and has continued to remain a beacon of light in the overcrowded, boring list of science documentaries. It managed to capture the imagination of all audiences, regardless of age or prior knowledge. Last year its successor, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, reinvigorated the minds of young astronomers everywhere. This new special, hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, became an instant success and has propelled its host into the spotlight. Announced earlier today via Business Wire, Tyson is planned to host his own late night talk show, Star Talk, a direct adaptation of his largely successful podcast of the same name.

Premiering April 2015, the series will be produced by National Geographic Studios and will be taped in front of a studio audience at the American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium, where Tyson serves as director. Each week, Tyson and his fellow guests will explore a variety of cosmic topics, including space travel, extraterrestrial life, the Big Bang, the future of Earth and the environment and breaking news from the universe.”
