This season’s premiere of Saturday Night Live brought with it new cast members, new opening credits (which were quite interesting. I love that I felt as if I was in all the hottest NY spots, but why aren’t any of the cast members hanging out together?!), the massive voice of Ariana Grande, and all the awesome that is Chris Pratt. With everything that SNL was offering in its 40th season premiere, the biggest surprise came from the new, youngest cast member, Pete Davidson. At only twenty years old, he is the first cast member to be born in the 90s. His debut came at the Weekend Update desk, where he was asked to comment on a Pennsylvania teenager photographing himself in a derogatory manner with a statue of Jesus. Pete being the ‘resident young person’ was the perfect individual to comment on what goes on in the minds of today’s youth, and the following three minutes were magic. It was evident that this kid is going to be a star; not only on SNL, but also in every future project. He is completely comfortable in front of a camera, has perfect comedic timing, and can hold his own amongst a cast of veterans.
If you’re not a fan of SNL or have never watched the show, you should tune in this season if only for Davidson, because this kid is going to be a star. In order to get to know Pete a little better, and to get to know his crude, but hilarious sense of humor, I’ve compiled his Top 5 stand up bits. I might add that it is rather impressive that he already has enough pieces where I can even choose his Top 5.
Enjoy!
