I Can’t Wait Until We Unveil Nicholas’s Villainy
Elena canoodles with Nicholas as she explains handing over Cliff Barnes’s pardon to Pamela—she’s here for justice, not vengeance. “You’re not responsible for their battles anymore,” Nicholas tells her. Elena might not be clear of the Ewings just yet if her damaged diaphragm has anything to say about it! Nicholas takes control of Elena’s cell phone, deleting every warning voicemail that comes through from Christopher. Is Elena curious about where her phone is?
Christopher appeals to Carmen. This scheming and blackmailing isn’t Elena, it’s clearly Nicholas/Joaquin. “Nicholas is a decent man, he would never mislead my family the way that your family misled my family.” Carmen, I think you’re about to become even more jaded about the people around you.
Bobby talks to Carlos Del Sol, who informs him about Joaquin’s past, including his time spent living with the Ramos family and his being heavily in debt to the cartel.
This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
John Ross makes an appearance at a child’s birthday party. He’s offered Cal from Ewing Global a deal. “There’s good in the worst of us. There’s bad in the best of us,” he quotes J.R., bribing Cal with ten million dollars in cash to make sure the company’s shares go to the Sheikh. At first, Cal claims he could never do that to Bobby. However, the lure of cold hard cash seems to be too great.
Or is it? Cal calls Bobby and tells him about John Ross’s bribery, promising that the IPO will be a fair offer. However, a smirking Nicholas has Cal fired right before the public offering. Hunter McKay (Fran Kranz) purchases the shares, earning himself a controlling interest in the company.

“Lying and cheating were the only things you were good at, and YOU FAILED AT THAT TOO,” Pamela yells at John Ross. Pamela, you are my favorite. Nasir texts John Ross to tell him he’s a disappointment to his father. According to the cartel leader, Nicholas will be the new leader of Ewing Global. He had previously lost $600 million, but he seems to be back in their good graces.
Ewings (And Associated Significant Others/Exes) Unite!
If the Ewings can prove that the cartel is behind Hunter’s buy, they can wrestle it back! Christopher and John Ross surprise Hunter at his apartment, claiming that they’re filing a suit with the FTC. “If you had proof, you wouldn’t be standing in this apartment,” Hunter says. He’s thrilled that John Ross lost Ewing Global the same way J.R. did many moons ago.
Bobby goes to visit Julie Cooper, Hunter McKay’s aunt whose name I never caught. She’ll always be Julie Cooper from The O.C. in my heart, so Julie Cooper she’ll stay. Her father blamed the Ewing family for her brother’s death and raised Hunter in kind. Bobby needs Hunter to explain to the FTC where the money came from. If he cooperates, Bobby should know enough people in the State Department to keep him out of trouble. Those odds don’t sound great to me, but whatever. The two go to Hunter’s apartment, only to find him hanging from the ceiling.

Pamela Is The Bad Bitch We Should All Aspire to Be
Pamela is conflicted about Cliff’s pardon. He’s done horrible things to her, but that doesn’t mean he should rot in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. She ultimately hands over the deed to his father’s land in lieu of his pardon. “You hated the Ewings more than you loved me,” she says. If he loved her, he wouldn’t have had the rig blown up and killed her unborn children. That really is the most dastardly thing that’s happened on this show, and that’s saying something. “It’s over. You’ve undone the wrongs done to your father. And I’ve undone the wrongs done by mine,” she says. Mic drop.
This Situation Seems Bad
Harris wants the CIA to protect Emma, but they’re none too thrilled about her promise to the cartel. Moving more drugs means more weapons, payoffs, and an accelerated takeover of Mexican government. Meanwhile, Emma is still furious with Harris and doesn’t want to forgive him just because he’s working with the CIA. Ann agrees that the good someone does doesn’t necessarily cancel out their past evils. She also stresses the importance of Judith not discovering Harris’s connection to the CIA. Emma then asks her to get dinner, so I guess not every relationship on this show has been shot to hell.

John Ross arrives at the Rylands with the news of Hunter’s purchase. “I’m not so much asking for a favor as blackmail,” he says. If Harris doesn’t use his contacts to help prove that the cartel is behind this mess, John Ross will drag underage prostitute Candace out of hiding. Judith pulls him aside, promising to do anything to protect her granddaughter. She also utters the best lines of the episode: “How good are you at romancing men?” and “Go back to that pit of broken marriages you call South Fork.”
The Rylands sit down for a meeting with Luis. Luis is pissed, but Judith lays the smackdown on him. Her granddaughter was in no position to make that deal, so she’ll renegotiate with him. If he can find Candace for her, she’ll raise the product amount even more.
Bum couldn’t find Candace, but he did figure out that the flash drive copied from Harris’s computer was encrypted by the CIA. Wouldn’t the cartel love to know that he’s working with the CIA? This is where the big UH OH comes in. While this is going down, Luis visits the Rylands with a gift—a video tape of Ann and Emma being held captive. Dun dun DUN.
