The Legend of Korra Moves to Digital Distribution

There’s been a major shake-up in the world of The Legend of Korra today. Late last night, kids TV news site NICKandMORE reported that Nickelodeon has pulled five episodes of The Legend of Korra from the schedule for the next three weeks. Fans were wondering what that meant for the show considering Nickelodeon has always handled Korra in strange ways. Moving the show to Friday nights was never a good idea, but Nickelodeon must have liked the show enough after Book 1 to give it three additional seasons. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko responded to fans on his tumblr with the following image:

This was followed by an official announcement on the korranation blog that The Legend of Korra would be switching to a digital distribution model. One more episode will air this coming Friday, and beginning August 1, episodes will roll out weekly on Nick.com and their Nick app as well as other services such as Amazon, Hulu, Google Play, and Xbox. As our resident Korra reviewer here at The Young Folks, this might make my job easier, although it is kind of a shame we won’t see more Korra gracing the small screen. In any case, I know this won’t affect the quality of the show. Keep your eyes peeled for more Korra news out of this week’s San Diego Comic Con.
