4. My So-Called Life- ABC (1994-1995)
Most of us were quite young when this show aired. It didn’t even air for a whole year. It’s on this list because it was a show that tackled important issues not in an one-episode-special but throughout the cycle of the show. Topics discussed ranged from teenage alcoholism, adultery, school violence, homophobia, and drug use. Pretty heavy stuff to address back in the 90’s. This was also probably why the show was cancelled so quickly. My So- Called Life, though very short lived, has become a critically acclaimed cult classic. Having caught reruns years later on The N, I feel the show deserved to be on this list for its cutting edge approach. Not to mention for casting Jared Leto and Claire Danes as a couple in all their teenage glory, pre-awards-winning glam.
