We can all come to the agreement that the 90’s were great times. But when it comes to choosing what the best 90’s cartoons were, we could have a problem.

So just to keep tensions down, we are covering the top 10 90’s cartoons that we loved yet tend to forget about. Embark down a laughter filled, animated memory lane.

1. Animaniacs (1993)

I bet none of us knew that the executive producer was Steven Spielberg. Well, at that age, we were too busy enjoying all the antics from the Warner siblings. It kept our attention with the varying short skits throughout the episode. It was on Animaniacs were we met Pinky and the Brain before they got their own show. In 2013, Animaniacs was listed by TV Guide as one of the “60 Greatest Cartoons of All Time”!

2. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters (1994)

Looking back, these cartoons weren’t the cutest or the nicest. But somehow it had so many of us kids hooked to these strange looking creatures. This comedy horror was about teenage monsters who attend a school under the city dumps and sewers where they’re taught to scare humans. Wait, doesn’t that part sound a little like Disney’s Monsters? Oops!

3. Johnny Bravo (1997)

After watching this show, we all were able to identify those Johnny Bravos throughout high school. Poor Johnny, with all that muscle he still couldn’t find a girl that wouldn’t end up slapping him within the first two minutes of meeting him. Bunny “Momma” Bravo is probably the reason why Johnny couldn’t get any ladies. He was such a Momma’s boy. Huh!

4. Kablam! (1996)

Who ever really knew what this show was really about? Who cared! We loved our hosts that introduced us to every week’s comedy sketches, Henry and June. More importantly, their green and blue hair was awesome! June’s crush on Henry was also fun to watch. The Action League Now was the most successful short on Kablam! and was the only short that had a new episode on every showing of Kablam!.

5. Dexter’s Laboratory (1996)

Cartoon Network scored a hit with this one. How many of us still remember Dexter screaming, “Dee Dee get out of my laboratory!”? To this day we don’t know where his accent is from. Perhaps, French?

6. Magic School Bus (1994)

You didn’t have to be in second grade to enjoy this show. Let’s get real; you watched even when your substitute teacher wasn’t showing it in class. We all wished our science teacher was as exciting as Ms. Frizzle. We all wanted to ride on the magic school bus!

7. Angry Beavers (1997)

Daggett (“Dag”) and Norbert (“Norb”) made us see beavers in a whole new light. We loved their bachelor dam even if at the time we had no idea what that was. Their sibling
love hate relationship that always got them into trouble kept us watching Saturday mornings. Did you know that the person who voiced Norb also voiced Salem the Cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch?

8. CatDog (1998)

Sure not all of us are literally attached to our sibling, but it was relatable in the sense that many times siblings are total and complete opposites. Yet, like Cat and Dog we too jump to the rescue whenever they’re about to get beat up by the Greaser Dogs gang.

9. The Wild Thornberrys (1998)

This show tackled on one of every kid’s dreams– the ability to talk to animals. Eliza had an enviable life. She got to travel the world, didn’t have to go to a regular school and had a pet monkey! Every single character on this show was loveable. Yes, even Donna. There were times were we got to see the love she did have for her “weird” family. Plus, her style was so cool. Please, tell me I’m not the only one who knew the theme song word by word and sang it in Eliza’s voice? Everyone did that, right?

10. Rocket Power (1999)

What a better way than to close out the 90’s with the arrival of Rocket Power? Rocket Power had all of us begging our parents for skate boards, skates and surfing lessons. If we all had a group of friends like Otto and the gang, life would be just as fun and wild as theirs was. Sure, they got into trouble, but they always helped each other get out of it. The show was all about enjoying life with family and friends. We all wanted to try Tito’s Hot-Durger, hamburger bun with all hot dog meat inside. Don’t lie, you tried the woogi woogi handshake with your friends too.
