Game of Thrones won’t return to our television screens until April 6, but HBO has been kind enough to give us a taste of the action with an all new fifteen minute long trailer. There’s a lot of great stuff here to get fans excited without spoiling anything from the upcoming season.
This trailer includes some footage from season 4 and we get to see how some of the characters are dealing with the aftermath of the Red Wedding. Jaime’s back in King’s Landing and trying to keep his siblings from killing each other. Really the only Lannister in danger seems to be Tyrion. We see Tyrion in chains, locked in a cell, even in what looks to be like some kind of trial. Joffrey is busy preparing for his upcoming wedding with Margaery Tyrell and just generally being the good little tyrant we know and hate. We’re introduced to a new character in Pedro Pascal’s Oberyn Martell who looks like he’ll be causing some trouble for the Lannisters.
What I enjoyed most about the trailer was all the behind the scenes footage. We get interviews with the cast as they discuss things like who their favorite characters are and what their most bad-ass moments have been. Showerunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss show up to shed some light on the goals and themes of season 4 and how they’re possibly going to top season 3. It’s nice to get a peek behind the curtain and see how much effort goes into the making of the show as well as how much fun everyone has making it. There’s much more to enjoy in this huge trailer, check it out below:
