This week’s edition of “For Your Consideration” features the hilarious British late (late) night show host James Corden. When you hear James’ name, people immediately think of Carpool Karaoke and its extensive list of famous singers from Justin Bieber to Elton John to One Direction. What many people don’t know is that around the same time Carpool Karaoke was born, so was its lesser-famous twin, Crosswalk the Musical.
And frankly my dear, we need more of it.
The Premise
Think Broadway songs plus Carpool Karaoke, mixed with high school drama talent. That combination, you’ll have Crosswalk the Musical. While there are not as many episodes as Carpool, James takes just as much pride and production into these musical performances. In the six episodes, yes there are only six, James has put his Broadway talents to use by performing popular Broadway hits.
If you’re not a Broadway fan or even a musical fan, don’t worry. The ten-minute long “performance” will have your sides in stitches. James holds nothing back when getting into character. He was not only Belle, full yellow ball gown and all, but also showed off his birthday suit to make his Hair performance authentic. Crosswalk the Musical is not only to entertain but hopefully to inspire young thespians that you can indeed make anything a stage, even a crosswalk.

Why You Should Watch
James Corden is able to bring his musical background to the streets. He’s done Broadway hits from Grease to Phantom of the Opera to the questionable choice of Hair, which included special guest and Hamilton genius, Lin Manuel Miranda. Since its inception in 2015, other special guests who have hit the crosswalk have included Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen, who starred in Lion King as well as Sir Ben Kingsley who joined James in London for a rendition of Mary Poppins. The performance and stage production is all you need for a good laugh.
If you’re not into musicals, the enjoyment alone comes from watching the angry LA drivers sit in traffic who are being forced to watch the masterpiece that is unfolding before their eyes. Honestly, seeing their reactions is just as good as watching James in drag. Crosswalk the Musical is definitely a the Broadway show no one asked for but should have.

So while everyone turns to The Late Late Show to see who the latest star to sing with James is on Carpool, I will wait patiently by until he reveals his seventh Crosswalk the Musical in two years.
