Stitchers returned for a third season with just as much energy and new expectations for the next arc in the story. This time around, Kirsten really was at the center of everything, and there were plenty of adventures for her to get involved in throughout the season three premiere. All of this set up some paths for each character to get involved in as the season progresses.
Kirsten went from being happily trapped in her memory to harshly ripped from it to save her life. Now that we know that her mother is alive, it looks like that is the next step to this puzzle. Her father is still out there but he is doing some shady stuff (more on that later), but there seems to be a way to bring her mother back. Although it is interesting that the obvious out-of-place message in her memory didn’t come from Cameron.
As soon as we heard her “mother” say that she couldn’t help her if she was in there, something was up. It didn’t make sense for Cameron to say it but if her mother could have a connection to that place, why didn’t she say something sooner? And what does this mean for Kirsten’s hunt for her mother?
The character I didn’t expect to stick around was Ivy, but seeing her play such a big role of helping Kirsten try to get her team out of that arrest was everything I could have hoped for. Her moment with Linus also gave some hope that she might be present for more of this next season, especially if her father is still out there killing people to get a message across to her half sister.
Which speaking of, there were a lot of stitches that could have happened but this one with Blair’s son was the most unexpected. And having Kirsten’s father behind it, this just wasn’t her week. She was stuck in that memory for a few days, thinking she was happy only to get a pretty bad memory of her mother when Cameron needed to pull her out of there.
Then she almost lost her team, thinking she was saving them and ended up needing to get out of there herself. Blair was really only making it worse, which escalated when his son was murdered and he thought he would have the upper hand. Kirsten wouldn’t let him win though, and her going to the Director of Security was her best plan yet. She was already winning the entire episode, but figuring out how to get Maggie a promotion and her team working for the Stitchers program again was pure genius.
I wouldn’t be me, though, if I didn’t take a second to discuss Camsten and that last scene. Those two steal each episode for me, especially now that it looks like they could be headed for a relationship. I doubt that it really will be that easy now that Cameron is single and Kirsten made that first move. Them working together and Kirsten having this hunt for her mother might get in the way, right?
There must be something and if I had to bet money, it would be Cameron and his approach to stitching when he is worried about Kirsten to such an extent. Camille looking over at Cameron when Kirsten was stitching into Blair’s son was a sign that we probably need to look out for. His hands were shaking, reminding us that he might be a little close to everything now.

Having feelings for Kirsten and worrying about her the way that Cameron does could put their jobs at risk. I don’t exactly want to agree, but the last two season finales had both of them begging the other to come back and that just isn’t subtle. The closer these two get, the harder it will be for them when it comes to objectivity. But if anyone could make it work, it has to be these two.
Stitchers picked up its new journey wonderfully, not letting go of established relationships but also paving the way for more. This time around, things are even more personal because this is all about Kirsten making her way to her mother, while figuring out her relationship with Ivy and her potential future with Cameron. Apart from that, I am beyond excited to see Camille with a new lady in her life, as well as Linus trying to figure out how to process his father’s passing that I still can’t think about without getting emotional.
