The Merc with a Mouth has a video game and a movie to his name, but soon he’ll be on your TV screens.
Marvel has announced that FXX has placed a series order with Marvel Television and FX Productions for a Deadpool TV series. It will be an animated adult action-comedy written, produced, and run by none other than Donald Glover, the Golden Globe winning star, writer and creator of FX’s hit comedy Atlanta (along with his brother and fellow Atlanta writer Stephen Glover). Joining the Glover brothers as executive producers of the series are Marvel’s Jeph Loeb (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Smallville) and Jim Chory (Daredevil, Heroes).
“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said FX’s President of Programming Nick Grad. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth,” Loeb said. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
This project adds more to the hefty plate of Mr. Glover, what with currently shooting the Star Wars Han Solo anthology as Lando Calrissian and appearing in Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. With his busy schedule, it makes sense that Atlanta’s second season was delayed until 2018.
Deadpool himself is staying busy too, with the sequel to the hit 2016 movie scheduled to start shooting soon to make its June 1, 2018 release date. No word on whether or not Ryan Reynolds will voice the character in the show but, if not, Nolan North from the video game could be a fine replacement.

This will be FX’s second superhero show after the critically acclaimed X-Men spin-off Legion, which will also shoot a second season.
