I loved “300” and from the trailer of “Immortals” I want to see it but in my opinion it seems like there isn’t anything exciting about it, it looks like “300 part 2” but still I want to give the film a shot at redemption in November. From the clip shown at the panel, it was Zeus and his Olympian soldiers fighting with some men that were inside some sort of a cave, here the effects looked great, you get the slow motion in between the fighting and lots of blood. I think that it looks good but as far as storyline goes? ..Meh.
According to Tarsem Singh, the movie is going to be a lot more darker than what it looks, he said he used more physical sets than green screens. A fan asked Tarsem if “Immortals” 3D was going to be as bad as it was in “Clash of the shit” (he said that referring to “Clash of The Titans), mind you that one of the producers and Luke Evans were part of “Clash of The Titans”, Tarsem said that “Immortals” was filmed specifically for 3D so hopefully it will look better. Tarsem also shared that he had always been fascinated with gods, beginning with the fact that he has been an atheist since he was very little, so the idea of gods existing in a world that has so much suffering, problems, etc but still wouldn’t be present to solve them. He began thinking about the movie by having a vision instead of a script, and from the vision he had of gods fighting alongside humans the idea of “Immortals” came about, and then it was when he started thinking about a script for the movie.
Henry Cavill shared his fascination for greek mythology, Luke Evans playing gods in both “Immortals” and “Clash of The Titans” this time around playing a younger version of Zeus who would be his father in “Clash” where he played Apollo, Kellan Lutz calling himself the “god of wetness”, Freida Pinto saying how it was sometimes hard for her to go on breaks while filming and then come back to her character, Stephen Dorff saying that one of the things that made him agree to the project was working alongside Freida Pinto.
All in all, I think the movie will do good at the box office just because of the fact that they are marketing “Immortals” with the tag line of “from the producers of 300” and because of the visuals, story-wise I doubt there is something that we haven’t seen yet. “Immortals” will be released on November 11th 2011.
