Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It is a collection of stories from people who read Eat Pray Love and decided to make a drastic, much-needed change in their lives. As a twenty-something, I’m struggling to find my place in this world and I’m always seeking out books that aren’t step-by-step guides but are avenues to great storytelling and guidance. And that’s what I found with Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It.
In a state of post-college confusion and many missteps and triumphs later, I find myself still trying to piece my life together and wondering now what? Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It drew me in at the right time when I needed it the most.
The collection of stories come from a variety of people who at some point in their lives felt lost and in search of something deeper than themselves. From climbing mountains to embracing the joys of motherhood while soaking in the rejuvenation that comes from a lifelong career, there’s a story here for everyone. The contributors of this book have struggled, failed and yet succeeded and reached the light at the end of the tunnel.
Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It became my source of meditation and clarification. It inspired me to reflect on where I am in life and think of ways how I can improve my current state and reach my full potential. I took my time reading this book because I wanted to thoroughly enjoy and soak in every page and short story. It’s a light read that’s perfect for summer and pulls at any adventure seeker’s heartstrings. The need for exploration now runs deeper than ever in my veins and has inspired me to push my own limitations and break the barriers, much like this group of contributors.
My journey still isn’t over. Learning to love yourself the right way takes more than just a few therapy sessions, more than a dozen yoga classes. It means more than accepting the first man who comes along willing to share your bed. I remind myself every day that within me there is Goddess who deserve love, compassion and respect because She gives all of those things so freely. (Theressa Real, p. 114)
Furthermore, this book taught me a valuable lesson that I should always remember, love yourself. Stories of people who have gained renowned strength encouraged me to find that same power and wisdom that they did. But I’ll find it in my own way. This book is a cause for reflection and a celebration that we can all reach our full potential in physical strength, determination and most importantly, happiness.
Eat Pray Love Pray Made Me Do It pushes boundaries: physically, mentally and spiritually. No one is perfect and neither is life, so I truly believe that anyone can take away something from reading Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It and make that change that we have all been itching to make. It will inspire you, move you and make you question – what would Eat Pray Love make you do?
