Potterheads rejoice!!
After months of waiting, it’s finally here!!!
The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released today. The trailer only gives a glimpse of this new branch in the wizarding world, but it’s enough to excite any Potter fan (I got major goosebumps while watching).
The film takes place in 1926, when a magizoologist and author named Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York City on a brief stop after just completing a trip around the world to find and document magical creatures. His plans become delayed when some of the creatures he captured manage to escape from a magical suitcase and are now on the loose in a vastly less magical New York. During this time period, wizards tried exceptionally hard to hide from the No-Majs, which is the American term for Muggles.
Along with being the first film to revisit the wizarding world since the conclusion of the Harry Potter series, it also marks J.K. Rowling’s debut as a screenwriter. The film was inspired by the Hogwarts textbook of the same name written by her character Newt Scamander.
The film also stars Katherine Waterston (Steve Jobs), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Samantha Morton (In America), Ezra Miller (Trainwreck), Dan Fogler (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Colin Farrell (True Detective). Sitting in the director’s chair once again is David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theaters November 18, 2016.
