Young & Hungry returns for the second half of season two airing tonight on ABC Family. When part one of season two ended, we were left with a girl who wanted to follow her dreams and a guy who was about to have his heart broken. Left with questions and the need for closure, both Gabi and Josh had some unfinished business to resolve.

Sofia’s enjoyment of living alone is short-lived when Gabi moves back home after getting kicked out of her international culinary internship. Let’s just say that burning a restaurant down is high up on the list of reasons of getting let go. (Ouch!) But there is nothing like a best friend’s love and support to make you feel better.

As the unanswered questions start to build up, so does Gabi’s head. She goes off to talk to Josh to finally get things straightened out. I love her straight-forward attitude. She does not beat around the bush–when something bothers her, she goes out and solves it. But even though she may be eager to talk and get some closure, that does not mean that Josh is as eager.

While Gabi was gone, Josh buried himself in work and made a drone that could potentially take his business to the next level. On the other side of the spectrum, Gabi was off chasing her dream and finding out who she is on her own.

But it would not be a Young & Hungry episode without its dose of shenanigans, right? Well, as Josh gets a new neighbor and business partner, he realizes that his new neighbor is interested in more than his new app. Thinking Cal’s interested in Gabi after finding out he is interested in his chef is the last straw for Josh. Oh jealousy, how you turn that ugly head of yours.

Setting out to spy on his new neighbor, Josh uses his drone to find out if Gabi is sleeping with his new business partner. He is left baffled and frantic that it is not Gabi who the new neighbor is interested in, but his new replacement chef.

Not only does Josh lose his new business deal, but he has a lot of explaining to do with Gabi. Although I love the supporting cast, it was nice to have the sole focus be on the relationship between Josh and Gabi. They have really great chemistry with each other, both in the romantic sense and friendship. But seeing as they are at different points in their lives, it will be interesting to watch them just be friends. Their separation worked out well for the both of them. Josh was able to use his energy to focus on work, while Gabi followed her dreams. It is very refreshing to see a girl not need man to be in her life to define her happiness. But can they stick to just being friends? Who knows?

Overall, this episode resolved the questions that sparked from season two part one. If you have been a fan of this show from the beginning, you are surely going to enjoy this episode, if you have not seen it already. The humor is still sassy, current, and fun. The dynamic of the cast is still up to par when compared to previous seasons. Also, since Gabi and Josh are just going to be friends, who is Gabi’s love interest this season going to be? Because although being an independent woman is great, I won’t complain if we add some romantic spice in the mix.

Young & Hungry airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC Family. Check out my new interview with the real Gabi, who the show is based on.
