Dope is one of my most anticipated films of the summer. Having sparked much excitement after it’s debut at this year’s Sundance, the film is full of unknown actors and hip-hop music, and it has been compared to Pulp Fiction.
Count me in.
The trailer is bundled full youthful energy, music, and friendship, and I cannot wait to see it. Summer is dominated by the big budget blockbusters, so it’s nice to see a film such as Dope slip in among the lineup. Some of my favorite films of 2014 were the summer indies, and I hope Dope lives up to the hype I’ve built up for it.
For your chance to attend the advanced screening of Dope on Tuesday, June 16 at 7pm at the AMC Boston Common, go to www.Gofobo.com/Redeem and enter the code TYFisDOPE92.

A critical hit and audience favorite out of the Sundance Film Festival, in DOPE, Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself.
