10 Reasons To Watch “Grace and Frankie”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month you know about the Netflix original “Grace and Frankie.” The series reunites Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as frenemies whose husbands leave them for each other. The writing is brilliant, the acting is superb, and the drug references are hilarious. Most people (me) binge watched the entire first season in 3 days, but others have yet to experience the magic that is “Grace and Frankie.” If the fact that it’s a Netflix original series starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin isn’t enough to make you want to watch the show, I have complied a list of 10 reasons to watch below.

10. Marta Kauffman (creator of “Friends”) created it!

The mastermind who introduced us to Phoebe, Rachel, Ross, Monica, Joey, and Chandler gives us two more “Friends” in Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein.

9. Brooklyn Decker’s hair

It’s just so flowy!

8. Because Miley Cyrus and Shonda Rhimes love it!

If Shonda Rhimes (creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal) loves a TV show, you should too. And if something gets Miley Cyrus’ stamp of approval it’s got to be cool, right?

7. The family dynamic

They’re like a modern-day “Brady Bunch” only better.

6. Lily Tomlin’s wardrobe

Why doesn’t my grandma dress like this? Hippie chic!

5. Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston

The usually straight-laced actors play lovers in “Grace and Frankie” and it is absolutely delightful. Sheen and Waterston have never been better.

4. June Diane Raphael

Raphael steals the show as Brianna. Her comedic timing and intuition is out of this world, and when she’s on screen you can’t take your eyes off of her.

3. The peyote scene

Tomlin and Fonda told Entertainment Weekly that they actually took peyote (a psychedelic cactus) to prepare for the filming of this scene. Badass.

2. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s chemistry

“Grace and Frankie” reunites the best friends on-screen for the first time since “9 to 5” in 1980. Fonda is flawless as the uptight Grace Hanson, and Tomlin is beyond perfect as the free-spirited Fankie Bergstein. The characters start out as rivals but quickly develop a friendship due to the odd circumstance they’re in. Fonda and Tomlin’s relationship on-screen is so genuine; it feels like you’re watching two friends live their lives as opposed to watching a scripted TV show.

1. Because it was just renewed for a second season

Better to catch up now so you can binge watch season two with the rest of us in 2016.

Lily and Jane forever.
