TV Review: The Originals (2×19) “When the Levee Breaks”
Dana Cuadrado
At the end of last week’s episode of The Originals, Klaus killed Mikael. All of the characters were quite upset about this development. WHY? He had tried to kill everyone on this show. He has died a good three times between The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, it never seems to be very permanent. The fact that he might be able to help you now doesn’t make it right to disregard all of his previous atrocities. Once again, Klaus is my favorite part of this show. The Dahlia conflict is furthered in this episode, but the focus was definitely more on Klaus than Dahlia.
Jackson has been getting progressively more annoying as this season continues. Last season, Jackson was an interesting character and helped us learn about werewolves, but he has just been in the way this season. Cami was finally back in this episode. I really missed her. I love her relationship with Klaus. There is always so much emotion between them and I love that she brings about the best sides of his character.
Aiden finally said that he loved Josh and it felt like a death sentence from the start. Josh is always comic relief for the show and a great friend for Devina to lean on. I was quite sad to see him go, especially the way he went, but I thought it was really smart of Dahlia. Klaus taking the fall for Aiden’s death just goes to show how far he is willing to go to protect his family. I loved that Cami was the only one to see the truth behind the lies.
Elijah used to be my favorite character, but ever since Esther changed him, I just can’t stand him. The same goes for Rebekah and the actress switch. Freya is still the one character that I am unsure about. I don’t like her, but I’m not sure if she is truly evil.
This episode was all about Klaus. Though, sometimes his scheming does backfire on him as shown in the end of the episode in the betrayal of his siblings. I can’t wait to see his reaction when he wakes up.
The fight with Dahlia is coming up soon and so is the season finale. How will the characters try and take her on after putting a dagger in Klaus?
