TV Review: Once Upon a Time 4×14 “Unforgiven”

once-300x168

The episode begins with a very cliché nightmare that consists of some foreshadowing that (probably) nobody noticed until the end when the Charming’s big secret is revealed.

We take a Throwback Sunday to the Enchanted Forest which was when our villains–Maleficent, Cruella Deville, and Ursula–meet the Charming’s for the first time, right after their honeymoon. See, they knew of a tree that could reveal to them the secret to stop the curse from Regina’s evil queen phase. However, they need the two most important people, the Charming’s (Duh).

Also in the Enchanted Forest, the Charming’s learn that they are pregnant and because the baby is a product of true love it can either be a hero or turn to darkness and become a villain. This is why they trust our Queens of Darkness and would stop at nowhere to prevent their daughter from becoming a villain. Of course this is a show, and like any show, Emma will eventually find out and that will most likely destroy her.

The other character that this episode focuses on is Regina and her desperate attempts to find her happy ending. Now, remember last week when I said I had a prediction on who wrote the fairy-tale? I was wrong– but close. My prediction was that August (who was Pinocchio as a man before he turned into a boy) had written the fairy tale. Turns out, though, that he had only written Pinocchio’s part and inserted the pages into the book. This means he has/had a connection to the actual author, however, he’s a boy now and he doesn’t remember. Wow, fairy-tale life is so complicated, you guys. I don’t know how they do it. My favorite line though was when Emma told child Pinocchio; “back when you were older, we were friends”. Same, Emma.

Speaking of Emma, the episode also focuses on her and Hook. I said this before and I will say it again and again until I am proven wrong…Hook is not the same anymore and this is coming from someone who’s whole world (or two months of binge-watching on Netflix) revolved around Hook. However, according to the episode, him and Ursula have a past, which is going to make for some great Drama that might make him more likeable again. No, but seriously, I’m really curious to see what happened in their past because you know, on Once Upon a Time they do things big. Always.

I was surprised but so happy that The Charming’s big secret was revealed towards the end—and by the end I mean, they LITERALLY waited until the last couple of seconds for Snow to tell Regina that because of them (the Charming’s) Maleficent lost her child. This just makes me want to know more and I know that just like every other season, everything will probably reveal itself through flashbacks and little by little but I’m excited, really.

Last week’s episode ended with Rumple in Storybrooke, so of course we can expect something to happen with him and Belle. Apparently, the fandoms call them Rumbelle so I’ll roll with it even though I absolutely cannot stand that guy. Rumple sees Belle in his old shop but not only does he see her, he sees Will Scarlet and not only does he see them but he sees them KISS. Now, I was doing some Twitter stalking and apparently fans are mad about this, like to the point where they’re boycotting the show as a whole. They think Rumple and Belle belong together but I personally think Rumple’s days in Belle’s life is long over. Plus, Will is cute and most likely knows how to text.

Next week, Regina joins our villains as a way to find out their plans while pretending to be on their side. Will this remind of her of the good ol’ days when she was an evil (excuse my French) bitch? Also, what happened between Hook and Ursula? What happened to Maleficent’s baby? Are those damn Charming’s actually bad people? So many questions and hopefully all will be answered ASAP.

What did you guys think of this episode?
