The 100 has returned, but that’s not the only good news that I have for you guys. The show has also been renewed for a third season! Woohoo!
Our hearts can rest in peace knowing that this gut-wrenching show will be back!
“Spacewalker” left our hearts shattered on the floor with the death of Finn. I literally cried and I wish I still had the teary, red-faced selfie that I sent my friend when she asked how I felt about the episode.
The 100 writers really have no limits when it comes to doing whatever is necessary to keep this show’s viewers on their toes. Not to mention, they handle deaths in such a beautiful way.
But anyway, we pick up right after Clarke committed the awful deed. She’s in shock and frantically is trying to get Finn’s blood off her hands. Abby and Kane walk in and Clarke is just breaking down. Eliza Taylor pulled this scene off so well.
She doesn’t have much time to grieve as she has to compose herself quickly when Indra and Gustus come in to tell her that Lexa wants to see her now. The grounders aren’t too pleased about the fact that Clarke took Finn’s death into her hands (literally), but Lexa recognizes that what she did was just as torturous. It’s going to haunt her for the rest of her life. However, she does say that Finn’s body must be buried in their burial grounds to which Clarke concedes in order to strengthen the alliance.
Raven doesn’t even want to see Clarke’s face, but they all march on over along with the grounders to the village where the massacre occurred. As Finn’s body is set to be burned, Lexa passes the torch for Clarke to set the pyre on fire. The grounders don’t approve of the alliance but Lexa always lets her authority be known. I enjoy her a lot as she appears to be a strong and resilient leader. Sure, her methods don’t match up the same as Clarke’s, but I can tell she does have a good heart deep down in there.

Lexa and Clarke have a heart to heart where she tells her about the woman she loved once and what it cost her. The ice nation captured, tortured and killed her. Ever since then she’s vowed not to love for it’s a weakness.
They proceed to come together to feast and toast to their alliance. Kane brings along a bottle of alcohol as a gift to the grounders. Gustus, Lexa’s bodyguard, tastes it and begins to choke, as he’s poisoned. All hell breaks loose!

Gustus can be healed back to health, but the alliance is definitely off. The poison was found in Raven’s backpack and she’s been sentenced to 18 cuts. That scene was awful to watch. Thankfully Clarke is able to put two and two together and figures out that the poison wasn’t in the bottle of alcohol but in the cup. It was one of Lexa’s own that pulled the stunt in order to hurt the alliance – Gustus who was afraid the alliance would get Lexa killed. Lexa kills Gustus with a sword through his stomach and we see in her eyes that though she is fearless and strong, it still breaks her heart every time she kills someone.
As Raven witnesses Gustus’ torturous death she realizes that Clarke did the right thing for Finn and can finally begin to forgive her. I don’t think things are back to being 100% between them, but at least the healing process can begin.
Clarke decides to take Lexa’s advice. Love is weakness and puts the people she cares for at risk. So just like that she decides to become a walking iceberg— ’cause that always turns out well.
As she pushes love away from her heart she says goodbye to Finn’s ghost that kept haunting and creepily staring at her throughout this whole episode. I’m not sure if I enjoyed the element they used to portray Clarke’s guilt. Mostly, Finn’s death stare was too over-exaggerated and I felt it was an unnecessary tool.

Anyway, I don’t believe that Clarke is making the right choice. The fact that she is guided by love and her concern for others is what has made her a different kind of leader that everyone has chosen to follow. I think it will make her reckless and it could even cause more casualties than she’s actually hoping for.
Her no love attitude decides it actually would be a good idea to send an inside man into Mt. Weather, and so she takes Bellamy up on his offer. Does she not remember she was afraid to lose him just a few hours ago?!
I don’t like this idea at all! Nothing can happen to Bellamy!
Lincoln will go with him to guide him through the tunnels. Poor Lincoln doesn’t truly have a people of his own. Indra made it clear that he’s a traitor to the grounders and is looked upon with disdain. His people have shunned him and he’s still left with the aftermath from all that he did when he was a reaper—chills. Thankfully Octavia is there to remind him of the humanity he didn’t lose.
Back at Mt. Weather Miller, Monty, Maya and Jasper are still wondering where the heck Harper is. They decide they must call for help through the radio waves, and so with Maya’s help they bust into the art archives room to try to get into the radio’s cables. Unfortunately, they also quickly find out that Mt. Weather has been jamming all of the radio signals to stop any communication with the Ark.
Monty really takes the MVP award as he disguises himself as one of the radiation cleanup workers and breaks into the control room. He sends out a signal on loop letting the Ark know they’re alive. Unfortunately, just as he’s leaving one of Cage’s lackeys figures out he’s not really a worker and strangles him.
Monty wakes up in a cage and right above him is our dear friend Harper! It turns out that there are 47 cages for each one of them. Here’s to hoping that Bellamy and Lincoln can get there in time.
This was an extremely solid return episode for The 100. You can tell that they are slowing down the pace in order to further develop this world that has so many different tribes of people. We are sure to learn more about many others as name-dropping seems to be occurring more often, such as with the ice nation.
Jason Rothenberg and the team of writers are genius at elaborating this story that began so simply and has grown in depth as time passes.
I’m excited!
