Sadly, the time has finally come for Sheldon’s hit web series, Fun With Flags, to come to an end. After 232 episodes (not including the two-hour Fourth of July spectacular that Amy forgot to record), the series that allowed us to “learn, laugh, and wonder, and even shed a tear or two” is ready to wave it’s white flag. Sheldon has a full time career and a girlfriend, so he can no longer keep up with his popular Internet show, but fret not! The final episode flagtacular is everything we could have asked for and more, thanks to a montage of the show’s past highlights. We’re treated to Sheldon teaching us about the Australian flag while Amy is dressed as a kangaroo, we get to see Kripke’s flag skills in the game, “Flag or Not a Flag,” and our biggest treat is seeing Sheldon dressed as Betsy Ross while sewing the American flag. (Check out the video montage at the end of the review!)
It was a great storyline in the episode that earned a lot of laughs and warmth towards Sheldon because yet again, Sheldon is showing his emotions. This time, with his farewell to his loveable Internet show. The goodbye was only fleeting, however, because one person left a comment on his video saying that he kind of liked it. Sheldon couldn’t stand to let the people be heartbroken. Thus, the show must continue!
As Sheldon was saying goodbye to his show (temporarily), Leonard, Howard, and Raj were saying goodbye to late Professor Roger Abbott. While cleaning out his office, they’re trying to find any important work that’s worth keeping. What they find instead is a closed bottle of champagne that his mother gave him 50 years ago. The bottle remained closed because it was to be open only when he made his first major discovery. Leonard is somewhat bothered that some of the work they’re looking through just might have been the breakthrough Abbott was looking for his entire life. His breakthrough that would have led to him finally popping open his bottle of champagne. In order to find out if any of the journals mean anything, Howard and Leonard suggest using the supercomputer to decrypt all the data. They spew a bunch of complex science terms that get’s them excited for the job, but Raj then intercedes with some valuable information: the contact info of the Professor who used to share the office with Abbott. They naturally go with Raj’s suggestion.
Turns out, Professor Abbott’s journal entries were actually his food diary. The guys, defeated, go back to the office to finish cleaning up the office. They come to the realization that not everyone will accomplish something great. Instead, they’ll have to find solace in the small moments that make up life. In that moment, they decide that they’ll honor Professor Abbott by opening the bottle of champagne when one of them gets their first, big breakthrough. The best part of this plan will not be actually finding a breakthrough, but rubbing their success in Sheldon’s face.
Unfortunately, this pact is quickly broken when Sheldon opens the bottle himself to celebrate the return of Fun with Flags. It goes to show you that one person’s voice on the comments section can go a long way!
Finally, Bernadette was also saying goodbye, goodbye to a side of her not many people, especially Dan, are a fan of; a side that yells at children for being “wussies.” Her and Penny have a work dinner, and while Bernadette is parking the car, Penny and Dan (the man who hired her as a pharmaceutical rep), have a chat about a company picnic where Bernadette yelled at him and his grandson for losing a three-legged race. She’s cute and sweet, but vicious. And apparently, everybody else at the company feels this way about Bernie. When Penny tells her that her coworkers are scared of her, she’s absolutely shocked because look at her. She should be in a tree baking cookies.

She continues to believe that she’s not in fact a bully. She’s only tough because her father taught her not to take any crap from people, but Penny points out that there’s a key difference between being tough and being blatantly mean. Since she feels as if everyone hates her, Bernadette wants to leave the party, but Penny insists that she stay to mend her faulty relationships with her coworkers. First stop, is Dan. While apologizing, she finds out that her “free” coffee and her “private” bathroom are not in fact free or private. Everyone pitches in for her daily dose of caffeine, and as for the bathroom, everyone was too scared to tell her that it was actually the bathroom for the entire floor. She is sorry though. So instead of having everyone pitch in daily for her coffee, she’ll opt for everyone pitching in just once for her very own espresso machine. It’s not the nicest thing she could do, but baby steps.
