Pretty Little Liars has finally reached their 100th episode milestone! And for this special event we must say they pulled out all the stops. It contained important characters reappearing, couples reuniting and the action at the end literally left us blown away. You’ll know what I’m talking about by the end of this post.
Let’s start with the first major arrival back in Rosewood, Jenna. She’s back and mourning Shana’s death. It also turns out that all this time that she was away; she was actually living in NYC—very suspicious. Jenna’s arrival has made Aria all the more jumpy and paranoid. Guilt is eating that poor girl up!
Then, what we’ve all been waiting for finally occurs. Alison returns to Rosewood High. Ali isn’t the only worried about her return. The PLL’s are worried just as much, especially Hanna as she doesn’t want to slip into Ali’s shadow.
Regardless, they walk in together presenting a united front. Ali says she’s determined to make amends with everyone she’s hurt. But Ali is just as bad as Regina George, so she’s going to have a lot of making up to do. So far her arrival has received mixed reviews, with Mona and Lucas looking on.
Sidenote: Lucas has this new edgy beard/goatee going on. It’s probably the only way to make that boy look slightly evil. But I’m kind of digging it, lol.

Lucas invites Hanna to a party where he’ll introduce her to his new girlfriend. Since when does he have a gf? It just seems really suspect.
One of the first shocking moments occurs when Mrs. Hastings calls Spencer to the principal’s office. Mrs. Hasting reveals that she’s leaving Spencer’s dad, and Spencer is coming with her. Mrs. Hastings hired a private investigator because she couldn’t shake off the feeling that Mr. Hastings was involved in Jessica DiLaurentis’s murder. Her suspicions were further confirmed when she found out that Melissa and Mr. Hastings had lied about their whereabouts on the night of Mrs. D’s murder. However, the show hasn’t really fully answered if it was Mr. Hasting’s who killed Mrs. D. It’s only been insinuated, and with PLL you just never know. So really, did they do it?
I do love Spencer and her mom’s bond. They’ve always been the closest in their unaffectionate family. She may not be very warm but since day one she’s been right by Spencer’s side, protectively defending her at all costs. Her dad on the other hand has primarily been the one laying on the Hastings pressure to succeed while holding onto many secrets. But I guess if he killed someone in order to protect Spencer from being charged with the murder of the girl who was buried in Ali’s grave that that counts as love too.
Meanwhile, Ali and Paige finally face each other and bring everything from the past out in the open. Paige truly cannot stand even being near Alison; it makes her sick to her stomach. Alison apologizes to Paige, but after Paige leaves, Ali has some apologizing and confessing to do to Emily. She admits to Emily that the kisses they shared weren’t one–sided. Alison knows telling Emily this will immediately send her on an emotional rollercoaster. She tells Emily this when she sees her reconnecting with Paige. So, is this genuine or just another manipulation tactic? Either way, this episode saw the reunion of Emison (Emily and Alison) to many fans’ delight.

But my favorite character that returned in the episode? Caleb is back in Rosewood! Things apparently didn’t go well in Ravenswood, and Hanna is a pretty good reason to return to Rosewood. They run into each other at The Brew where he sees Hanna has coffee for herself and Travis.
He’s quick to figure it out and leaves. Also leaving Hanna also in severe emotional shock.

Hanna arrives at Lucas’s party where she decides she will hinder her emotional state by getting drunk. Drunken Hanna is funny but you can totally tell she’s hurting right now. Travis is thankfully a totally really nice guy who takes care of Hanna and makes sure she gets home safe and sound.
He’s honestly such a cutie. You can tell he truly cares for her. But, with Caleb back in town I can only say: Haleb forever.
It wasn’t any coincidence that all of the girls had something to do that night, leaving Alison without any plans of her own.
As Alison leaves Emily’s house, she’s followed by a car and runs into the church for safety where she encounters Mona. At this moment we get the most intense showdown in PLL history! Ali is a bit shaken by Mona’s threat of being able to prove that all the girls were in New York City, but she pulls it together as she puts on her mean girl persona. She threatens Mona right back by telling her that she can make her into Loser Mona once again. Mona straight up slaps her– hard! But Ali doesn’t hesitate in slapping her right back, leaving Mona with a scratch across her cheek. From a slap? I don’t know but this is TV so let’s just go with it.
Ali meets up with girls afterwards and tells them everything. Except, the fact that she slapped Mona back. I knew that the fact she left this detail out would come back against Alison.
Aria meanwhile goes over Ezra’s apartment. Throughout this whole episode they’ve been hanging out (trying to keep it friendly); one of them always slips up and does something affectionate to the other out of instinct (and immediately pulls back).
Aria has been drowning in her guilt, and Ezra has honestly been a great support for her. He snaps Aria out of her self-torment when he shows her the gunshot wound scar he has because of Shana. If Aria hadn’t killed Shana then Ezra could’ve been dead along with all of her friends. Shana surely wasn’t playing games. At the sight of Ezra’s gratefulness and his edgy scar, they both totally give in. You can only imagine the shrieks I let out when these two got back together. So beautiful that it was, these two have always been one of my favorite couples of the show.
The beautiful moments last just for a second as the next day back at school things got ugly quick. It turns out that Mona recorded all of the showdown she had with Ali, the slap and condescending remarks included. The video basically makes Ali look like she hasn’t changed one bit. The whole school has written Ali off and even the PLLs are pretty furious at her continuous blatant lies.
I agree with them. Why lie for the dumbest things too? The last people Alison should be lying to are the PLLs after they’ve done everything to protect her.
Alison is giving me a hard time of trying to figure out what she’s really up to. I do believe she has been through something terrible and that she is afraid. But, sometimes I question if she really wants to change or it’s all a show. She’s definitely a great actress, so it’s hard to trust her. Is she allies with Noel Kahn and Cece more so than with her four loyal friends? Who knows! But Ali sure learned her lesson with Mona. She won’t be able to come back to this town and school and rule like she once did. Things are no longer in her favor and it won’t be easy to manipulate Mona when she has gotten so good at Ali’s own games.
She doesn’t fully comprehend how many people truly hate her. Jenna and Mona are working together again. But, wait, you know that new girl, Sydney? She’s working with them too!
Why? We have no idea yet, but she’s the one providing Mona all of the Intel on the girls as she’s gotten especially close with Emily. Why would Sydney be involved in a plot against Alison? Is she Lucas’s new girlfriend or Jenna’s?
But that’s not all.
As Caleb and Hanna are reconnecting at the park, there’s breaking news that the identity of the girl who was buried alive in Ali’s place will be revealed by the Rosewood Police.
Caleb and Hanna rush over to the house where everyone has gathered along with their significant other to watch the Chief Officer release the name. It was so cool to see all of the couples reunited in one room at the same time since some of these characters hardly interact. It was one of my favorite scenes from the episode actually.
Caleb walks into the house and locks eyes with Alison. The look that they give each other is intense, and I’m wondering if there’s more to it than Caleb’s plain disdain for Alison.
They all hold their significant other’s hand, and Hanna always with the funny one liners points out, “Are they like together now?” when Alison and Emily are holding hands as they watch the news. Got to love, Hanna!
It turns out that the girl who was buried alive is Bethany Young, a young patient from Radley who escaped the same night that Alison was allegedly kidnapped. Yeah, they said allegedly so it could mean that the police are on to Alison’s fake kidnapping story.
Radley always has importance in this show, and Bethany Young being a patient there is no coincidence. No one in this show is a character without some meaning; so Bethany Young was somehow linked to Alison. There are already tons of theories circulating on the internet that Bethany Young may have been Cece’s twin sister?! Crazy!
We can only wait to find out as you never seem to be quite right when it comes to Pretty Little Liars.
But this revelation wasn’t the end of this jaw-dropping 100th episode.
As they’re watching the news they suddenly hear an incredibly loud explosion occur outside. All of them run outside and see that Toby’s house is on fire!
As they all stand in awe, all of their cell phones receive a text notification at the exact same time. None of them dare move a muscle because they know– A is back!
She/him/it is back with a full vengeance!
We all knew“A” wasn’t done with and it seems they’re moving into its new lair in Rosewood. “A” isn’t going anywhere, and the chaos that’s sure to ensue is going to be on another level with so many characters back in town!
What did you guys think of this heart-pounding 100th episode?
Why is Sydney helping Mona in Ali’s downfall?
Who the heck is Bethany Young?
That look between Alison and Caleb, what’s that all about?
Are Ali’s feelings for Emily real or just another device to control her?
Has Ali really changed or is she still the mean queen?
SO many questions!
