As any Pretty Little Liars fan, I’m quite thankful that this week we were able to get some answers. But of course, this only opens up the can for more questions because then it really wouldn’t be PLL, right?
Hanna’s embraced a darker look as she’s desperately trying to move away from Ali’s shadow that was cast upon her by Mona. The dark hair does add an edgy look, but we can still see the same old Hanna there, the one who is quick to blurt out the inappropriate yet honest things no one else wants to say. I like Hanna, but it’s sad to see she doesn’t always like herself. Feeling out of control, she’s returned to shoplifting really cute clothes that she can totally afford. I feel like Hanna’s change of hair is only the beginning, this season might be her time to unravel as all the other PLLs have had their moments.
This week we also got to see a lot more of Paige. Who, like always, is longingly staring at Emily. Those two never seem to be on the same page, and I’m kind of over them. For some reason, Paige has always given me the creeps. She tends to be possessive and needy, and I have no idea why Emily has put up with her for so long. But, this week Paige proved to have guts. She has refused to be a part of Mona’s evil scheme against Alison even when Mona threatened using the whole “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” move.
I would be intimidated by Mona, but Paige stood her ground as she won’t be getting involved knowing it would only further her from Emily. Instead, she actually warns Emily to stay away from Ali since things are going to get heated when Ali returns to Rosewood High (a moment we’re all waiting for).
It’s ridiculous to think that Alison could return in all her power and glory after all that’s happened and all the hurt she caused others. I don’t think Alison wants or intends to return in full reign. She has been through a lot even if she wasn’t kidnapped like she told the police officers. Alison has changed; you can tell she’s constantly afraid and paranoid. It doesn’t help that her new pet dog found her mother’s body in her half-sister’s back yard. Mona and her crew should take a chill pill and let the past go, certainly Alison has gotten her fair share of pain.

Who really knows what Ali has been through over the past two years? She was ordered to take her medical exam this week. The exam only made it harder to keep up with all of her lies. She’s visibly shaken up when the examiner questions her about a pretty nasty scar she has. Hanna asks for the truth, but Ali isn’t speaking up. This only adds on to the list of things she’s hiding. You would think that after all she’s putting her friends through by having them continue lying for her that she would be more open. But maybe it’s best for their protection—with Ali, you never know.
Meanwhile, Mona doesn’t hesitate to pick at Aria’s guilt. I don’t understand why the rest of the girls continue telling Aria that “A” is dead. “A” can’t be Shana…COME ON! I understand that they need to be gullible in order for the show to continue but really, it wasn’t over all those other times they thought they had finished “A” off. So, Aria has all the right to feel as terrible as she did—she technically did kill Shana even if it was self-defense. Like usual, she finds comfort in Ezra.

She’s so freaked out about being alone she even asks if she can stay over (in a non-sexual way). I would be scared to be alone in a big house after replaying the video of the funeral of the person I killed a thousand times too, Aria.
It’s awkward between Ezra and Aria, and she ends up going home. Of course, it’s obvious there’s still a spark there. Ezra seems to be trying to tread softly around Aria, he almost seems like he’s not interested in her. But, I think it’s more about the fact that he doesn’t want to scare her off; after all that he’s done to her, he’s probably just grateful she’s even speaking to him.

In all honestly, I want them back together again. I’m not sure if that would be the right thing to do after he used all the PLL’s to write his book. But, they were great together at some point. Aria always goes back to Ezra even when she has other cute boy toys around, remember Jake?
Most of our answers this week came thanks to Spencer’s handy detective work. It turns out that Mrs. D was poisoned. Someone swapped her low blood pressure pills for high blood pressure ones. It just happened that Mr. Hastings had those exact pills in his cabinet’s kitchen, which Spencer found. All signs are pointing to the fact that Mr. Hastings was the one who murdered Alison’s mom, Mrs. D. But, in PLL nothing is certain, whenever you think you’re right you end up being drastically wrong. Mr. Hastings has been acting quite strange lately as he’s been keeping secrets with Melissa. Not even Mrs. Hastings is in on it. But she did know that Mrs. D wanted to place Ali’s death on Spencer and then the death of the girl that was buried in Ali’s place as well. Wanting to protect his daughter could be enough of a reason for Mr. Hastings to step in and take out Mrs. D for good. It’s all a messy ordeal in Rosewood.
We also got a bit of Andrew and Spencer together. He tried to make some moves on Spencer, but she was clear that she’s still with Toby. But Toby never seems to be there! I’m sort of liking Andrew; Toby has become less appealing with his long hair.
Next week is the series’ 100th episode, and I’m sure it will be a great one. Rumor is that we see the return of Caleb!
Tell us, do you think Mr. Hastings was responsible for Mrs. D’s death?
Also, are you buying that “A” is really gone?
