Beauty and the Beast took a visit to suburbia this week. This episode gave us more Kat and Vince moments than we have had lately, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them play husband and wife
As previously noted, the FBI agent that Kat and Vince helped is still trying to get exoneration for Vince. Gabe continues to make that increasingly hard.
However, things change up when the witness who was to testify against Gabe goes missing— Gabe killed him. Vincent verifies this when they go back to the safe house, and he tracks exactly what Gabe did in that room.
Since Gabe is linked to the crime, Tess is fortunately able to get him arrested even if it’s only for a brief moment. Gabe is relentless in his pursuit against Vincent, and there isn’t a safe place in New York City for Kat and Vince to hide.
The only solution for now seems to be for them to undergo a witness relocation program. They end up being “Tim” and “Veronica” Vaughn in a cute little suburban town, you know, white picket fence and all. It was so funny to see these two plucked out of the big city, almost as if they were fish out of water.

The New Yorker inside Kat could not sit still, and it wasn’t long before they found some trouble to get themselves into.
Meanwhile, JT has promised to pick up where Vince left off in tracking Gabe. With Tess’s help, he realizes he needs to do things on his own and not in the shadow of Vince—“less Robin, more Batman”. He is able to track Gabe to the dungeon where he once hid Ray’s body and where he has taken the witness he recently murdered.
It seemed like JT had found the solution to pin the crime on Gabe that is until he appears with gun pointed at Tess and JT. Gabe threatens to out all of them and Vince’s beastly DNA if JT turns in the evidence of the witness’s murder. Basically, he just screwed them all over with the ultimate jerk move. Once again however, Gabe insists that he’s trying to protect Kat from dangerous Vince—clearly he forgot he used to be a deadly beast himself and that he just killed a man only a day ago. To say that Gabe is tripping is an understatement.

Regardless, Kat and Vince will have to return to the city since their cover in suburbia has been completely blown. It just so happens that one of their neighbors was shot right across the street from Kat and Vince. Kat figures out that this was actually a thought out murder as one of the town’s cops was sleeping with said neighbor’s wife, they orchestrated the plan and were about to get away with it. That is until Kat meddled and almost got herself killed by the cop who had pulled the trigger. Vince saved her just in time, but their one day in suburbia proved two things: they attract trouble wherever they go and they’re the kind of people who will fight injustice even at their own cost.
Their suburban outburst means they must go back to tip toeing between the shadows of the city as they also strategize yet another way to take Gabe down. There are only two episodes left for the season finale. This episode was not monumental in terms of important information being delivered.

Yet, it was an episode where we got to see a different side to Kat and Vince as a couple. They love each other for who they are even if it will never be to the usual standards of normal. It’s been nice to see in this half of this season that they have remained on a strong forefront united before the odds that are against them.
But this is BATB, and there are more obstacles to rise against Kat and Vince. Jay Ryan and Kristin Kreuk truly were adorable in this episode together and their chemistry is great. I must say that Kristin Kreuk is just so likeable in every character she plays and Kat isn’t the exception.
In this episode, we also get some Tess and JT action, and it becomes more evident how weird of a couple they make. There is no chemistry between them, and the scenes they share together as a couple are awkward and a little uncomfortable. It even appears like the actors themselves feel this way. Their kisses last about one second and transmit no spark between them. As a team however, they are great. The coupling is just a little odd, but I understand why the writers may have felt forced to make that happen.
In next week’s episode we are sure to see Gabe up the crazy shenanigans he’s been up to lately. With Kat and Vincent’s covers completely blown in suburbia, there isn’t much that the FBI may be able to do for Vince’s felon charges.
