Go Wolf is a trio band from Belfast; Northern Ireland. Backup voice and keyboards for their live presentations are occasionally done by a fourth female member. The three band members [Chris (bass), Scott (voice/guitar), Steve (drums)] met each other on a single poetry-reading night. The trio quickly became one of the most popular local bands in Belfast.
One More Night is Go Wolf‘s latest single, released on May 2014.
The band has been an opening act for bands like The 1975, CSS and Jape. Go Wolf is a creative electropop band that manages to stand out for it’s catchy but deep lyrics and it’s likeable pop sound with a touch of synths. The band’s own web-site reads on how they’ve been described:
The band has been called sophisticated as Phoenix and as intimate as The xx. Or see them live, where their infectious, rhythmic tunes recall the likes of Talking Heads and Little Dragon. Go Wolf are all about artful pop music that is simple, sensual and powerful.
Voices is probably Go Wolf‘s most popular track and for a good reason: it’s just great and matches this description just perfectly. Originally released in 2012, the fantastic track has been slow to catch recognition (an official video wouldn’t hurt, Go Wolf!) but it’s getting there. It’s been stuck on repeat for me for months now.
I couldn’t agree more with the previously quoted description, their sound is definitely delightful and sophisticated but it’s the touch of intimacy, and the friendly beats and lyrics that make Go Wolf a joy to listen. Their music is easily enjoyable and there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t see Go Wolf topping the charts once they release their first full-length debut album this year or the next. I can’t wait and you shouldn’t be able to, either.
