It was a strong episode for Beauty and the Beast as it made its return for its season 2B.

As we all know, it’s a fact that whenever Kat and Vincent finally are on the same page and things look great between them , something happens that tears them apart once again.

So, it was only natural that after Kat left Gabe for a romantic night with Vincent, the cops bust into Kat’s apartment and arrest Vincent for the murder of Windsor. They basically didn’t even get to cuddle.

Unfortunately, Vince is guilty of killing Windsor. It was that time when he was on super beast mode and in trying to protect Kat, he literally tore out Windsor’s heart from his chest, in front of everyone’s eyes.

Kat’s obviously frantic and tries to intervene at the police station where they’re booking Vince. If they get his DNA in the system he’s done for as his secret will be out in the open. Kat dropped her badge in the street during the madness that was Vincent’s arrest, so she’s not being granted access to the back where they keep all the prisoners.

Gabe, the ever doting ex-boyfriend comes to the rescue to validate Kat’s identity as an NYPD detective. Though Kat is grateful he helped, she also assumed that Gabe’s the one who has set Vincent up. He has all the motives, after being dumped and vowing to Kat that he will do whatever it takes to protect Kat from Vincent.

But as Kat and Gabe are able to get ahold of the evidence that the police have on Vince, it is clear Gabe hasn’t been involved. Not only are there pictures of Vince dragging Windsor’s body, but his heart was found in Vincent’s freezer in his boathouse. Fair enough, Gabe most likely didn’t store organs to later use them against Vince. Which only leaves one option—Vince is being framed. There’s only one other person who could be responsible, Bob Reynolds—Kat’s dad.

Besides Vincent’s arrest there’s the whole issue of him not containing his beastly side and causing major chaos in jail, by which I mean killing a few people. JT, Kat and Tess team up to find the emerald gem that keeps Vincent from transforming but also to try to find evidence that Reynolds has something to do with Vincent’s arrest.

It’s while Kat and Tess search for the gem that my favorite line of the episode is delivered. Tess is trying to comfort Kat, who’s obviously upset that the universe seems to be bent on destroying her relationship with Vincent. She tells Kat, “You two will survive this… You guys are epic.” It really showed Tess’s growth. Once upon a time, she really hated Vincent but now she realizes that though highly unconventional, the relationship that she has with her best friend is true.

Fortunately, they find the gem, and they’re able to give the gem to stop Vincent from changing into his beastly appearance. But it seems one of the prisoners had it out for Vince and suddenly a brawl breaks out in the prison. The fight lands Vincent in an ambulance as he’s being transferred.

The gem slips from underneath his bandage, and Vincent immediately transforms as he draws more attention to himself than he possibly could have imagined.

Vincent escapes but never fails to reappear at Kat’s rooftop. As he promises to bid her farewell for good after they have one more night together. Kat’s apartment has way too many windows and so the only place they can be together is the bathroom. I have to say this part of the episode was a little romantically awkward. Not because Kat and Vincent don’t have chemistry just because it got so cheesy at some point. Vincent puts on the song they first danced to and he pulls Kat into the shower where they dance under the water (fully clothed of course). Why dance under the shower? I don’t get it, but oh well.

It’s there that Gabe knocks on the door and interrupts their romantic night as he’s found that Reynolds did a wire transfer for $10,000 to someone. This would check out as the incriminating evidence that it’s Reynolds who has framed Vincent. But Reynolds is extremely hard to crack; he was an FBI agent after all. He argues that it could be Murfield or others that are after the beasts, which granted could definitely be true. If Reynolds was behind Vincent’s framing, it is understandable. We can see that he truly is coming from a protective father’s point of view and not from a sadistic one where he’s willing to do anything to keep Kat from Vincent. After all, Vincent could totally kill Kat if he ever lost control as well as leave her unemployed and as a run away.

Reynolds may not be framing Vincent, but he is using Gabe’s weakness for Kat to persuade Gabe to turn in Vincent. Gabe’s feelings for Kat are strong, and with Reynolds in his head, he tips off the cops on Vincent’s location. Vincent has to escape Kat’s apartment once more, and this time it seems he really may be leaving for quite a while.

As Kat is alone at her apartment, the episode ends with her being captured by men in masks.

Could it be someone working for Reynolds, now known as the Reynolds/Gabe team? Or could it be Murfield? They do have agents all over the world, and Vincent’s very public arrest could’ve been a big tip off.

More importantly, with Vincent gone who’s going to help save Kat with their ultra sound hearing?! We’ll have to wait until next week to find out. The return of season two of Beauty and the Beast’s was an episode that brought many resolutions to cliffhangers from its previous mid-season finale, yet gave us a bunch of new ones to be emotionally unstable about.

They also provided some lighter scenes between Tess and JT, who have gone from one night stands to a full on public relationship. It’s good to see Tess with a guy who isn’t married…or her boss.

What do you think will happen with Kat? Do you really believe Gabe hasn’t been involved at all in Vincent’s legal troubles? Do you believe Reynolds?

Give us your theories below!
