I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one mad excited for Stephanie Perkins long-awaited ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. With ANNA, she swept us away; with LOLA, she surprised us, and with ISLA, it looks like she’ll help us discover something new and meaningful
I adore all of Perkins’ books and the sneak peek at ISLA reminded me of that. I was given a first look at the first five chapters of ISLA, and I love every single sentence of it so far. Isla is easily Perkins most relatable and endearing character yet (and that’s saying something since Anna and Lola are quite relatable and endearing in their own rights). I just absolutely love Isla. She’s awkward, kind, and doesn’t realize how brilliant she is. Neither does Josh, her long time crush; although a chance encounter may change that.
What I especially appreciate is that while these books have romance, they’re not just about the relationship between two people. It’s almost all about the girl, our main character, and seeing them grow and develop into someone even more amazing.
This sneak peek leaves you hanging, not just because there’s a bit of mystery going on, but because you fall in love with this book so fast. By that perfect second chapter, it was insta-love, and I’ll never complain about that!
I can’t wait for Isla and the Happily Ever After to come out this summer. I truly believe that Perkins has once again conjured up a wonderful kind of magic with this new novel.
Isla and the Happily Ever After releases August 14th.
