This Mother’s Day weekend go have a laugh with your mom by taking her to see “Mom’s Night Out” with Sarah Drew from Grey’s Anatomy and Patricia Heaton from The Middle and Everybody Loves Raymond.
Sara Drew plays ‘Allyson’ a very excitable, church going stay at home mom with three kids and a husband that is constantly on the road who finds herself struggling with being a young mom and having self-worth.
Frustrated with her situation Allyson declines taking care of her sister-in-law’s child and opts for a night out with her best friend ‘Izzy’ played by Andrea Logan White, and the pastor’s wife ‘Sondra’ played by Patricia Heaton. The night, of course, doesn’t go as planned. Once the women are out for the night the husbands can’t quite take care of the kids. The ladies are denied service at a restaurant and end up at the local bowling alley where they find Allyson’s sister-in-law is working and can’t locate her baby. In which, begins the various hilarious hijinks.
The Erwin brothers wrote and directed the film, giving movie goers something fresh and attention grabbing with on-screen graphics and split screens. The storyline is something most mom’s can relate to; having a bit of a chaotic house and just wanting one night to let loose with girlfriends.
Even though this movie is said to be faith-based it’s not over bearing at all. It’s funny, clean-comedy is hard to do these days and it feels like a breath of fresh air. A movie you can go see with everyone and there won’t be any awkward moments of shifting in your seat if you’re sitting next to mom. You can definitely bet that at one point all mothers have gone through some version of what they saw on screen. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you might even say a little Amen.
Mom’s Night out is a Kevin Downes Production of an Erwin Brothers Film, in association with Four Boys Film and Pure Flix Entertainment.
Hits theaters Friday May 9th, 2014.
