TV Review: Under the Dome 1×07 “Imperfect Circles”

This week’s episode of Under the Dome, like usual, gave simple answers that only helped to create even more questions.

First of all, Norrie and Joe (mostly Joe) might have gotten a little bit closer to understanding the dome. While deciphering how exactly to recreate such an event like in episode six, Joe came up with the idea that the dome could possibly have a nucleus. And, ofcourse being the science genius he is, he’s right. But finding the nucleus brought about not just more questions but a fatal situation. Despite it all, I’d like to

think that the dome was somehow warning Norrie of what was to come when it showed her a mirage of one of her mothers.

Angie was also in Norrie’s position as she felt that she was the one who had to bury Rose (the bed & breakfast lady who was killed in the last episode). Somehow, I can’t really sympathize with Angie at all. Maybe it’s because I still see her as the girl obssessed with black magic from Secret Circle. Maybe I just think that she can’t act. I just can’t seem to relate to her.

On a totally different note, Deputy Linda, Junior and Barbie set out on a hunt for the two guys responsible for Rose’s death. I will never understand how no one in the town realizes that Junior jumped off the sanity boat a long time now and worse yet, they give him a gun. The worse thing than a crazed maniac is a crazed maniac with a gun. On top of that, Deputy Linda went ahead and told Junior of the intentions the two guys (mind you, they used to be his buddies) had for Angie. Pssh, it didn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that he was going to gun down the two dimwits once he saw them and not “read them their rights” like Deputy Linda would’ve hoped. Unfortunately for him, he only caught one of the guys from the duo and shot the guy in cold blood. Twice. And saying “Got ’em”, walked away proudly. Hopefully, this will be the wake up call Deputy Linda needs to know that this guy shouldn’t be armed with a weapon much less be on their police force. I mean, there must be other men in the town who either lived in Chester’s Mill or was “passing through” like Barbie right?

Well, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Big Jim – the man who always has some underhanded plan and is also Junior’s father – got slighted when Ollie Dinsmore, Big Jim’s long time foe, attempted to gain full control over the town by taking away Big Jim’s only bargaining tool…propane. In the last episode, Ollie’s well proved helpful when Chester’s Mill’s occupants thought their water supply was exhausted. Big Jim agreed to exchange his suspicious amount of propane with Ollie if he gave the townsfolk access to his well. However, Ollie didn’t know that when Big Jim feels threatened by anyone he “eliminates” them. Just like the dearly departed priest and mortician. But instead of going after Ollie one time, Big Jim took out his lackey who transported the stolen propane. I don’t know why he just didn’t go after Ollie instead of blowing the lackey to pieces but maybe he wanted to scare Ollie into submission? I really don’t know.

Despite all that happened, the nucleus that Norrie and Joe found would have to be the highlight of this whole episode. Not just does it interact with the children in a horror movie fashion but at the end of the episode, it glowed purple.

Like I said, Under the Dome has created a pattern of revealing the answer to one mystery but in doing so, gives way to a million more questions.
