Music review: “Planet Pit” by Pitbull

7/10

Mr Worldwide is or will be taking over your radio stations if he’s not doing so already.

The moment you listen to a rapper like Pitbull going over to a more electronic/house sound, you know it will be good. How many artists in the past two years have partly abandoned the music genre from where they started and join the electronic music movement? Too many too count, but let’s say some names: Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and the list just keeps on going. Nowadays, it seems like the music industry is more focused in making songs that they will play at the club rather than producing love songs, and Pitbull has that formula in “Planet Pit”.

We have already heard two singles from the album, “Hey Baby” ft T-Pain as well as “Give Me Everything” ft Ne-Yo, Nayer & Afrojack, both of them mainstream hits not only in the US, but around the world. What do both of these songs have? Not only are the lyrics easy to learn and catchy, but the bass and the beats are what make the song and I, for one, am not complaining. People are looking for songs to blast on their cars, to dance to when they go to a club, “Planet Pit” is THE album that DJ’s are most likely to use to mix when they are playing songs for the crowd.  From his beginnings in “M.I.A.M.I” and “El Mariel”, to “The Boatlift” and “Rebelution“, it seems like Pitbull has found more success over the years by doing remixes of already existing songs from the House genre as well as creating his own, but now with “Planet Pit” everything you were looking for is in one album and the future seems bright for Pitbull.

I can guarantee you this album will have most songs being played over and over at your radio stations, it seems like little by little Miami’s own Pitbull is taking over the music worldwide.

Some of my favorite songs of the album are “Give Me Everything”, “Pause”, “Shake Senora” and “Castle Made of Sand”
