I tuned into MTV’s premiere of their new series of GirlCode, and I fell in love.
I didn’t really know what to expect from this show. The preview gave absolutely no insight on what the show was about.
Although it was not a show that I would normally watch, I LOVED it. It is basically a show that covers girl-related topics, hence the name of the show. The show gives basic advice, from older girls, for the female population. There’s no storyline; it’s not a talk show or anything, its just basic female advice.
In the season premiere, they gave evidence on choosing the perfect college roommates, while showing how to be a good roommate. They also gave advice on how to stand up for yourself and how to handle situations to stop a guy from not taking advantage of you. They want females to be aware of their own bodies and to treat your body with respect, since your body language will translate into the way a guy will treat you. They also talk about crushes: how to start talking to them, how to behave around them, but to also not judge your friends’ crushes because you certainly don’t want them to judge yours.
All in all, I love this show. It’s definitely a show that every girl should, and needs, to watch. It seems like females have several questions about guys, friends, and general appropriate behavior, and let me tell you, the women on the show have all the answers.
Plus, they’re hilarious. They make hilarious jokes, but they’re actually just comically saying what it’s like in reality. The women were talking about different problems that so many girls have with their body. They even came to the point where they said, “Having big boobs is the best problem to have…because it really isn’t a problem!” But in all honesty, it’s the truth AND it’s funny!
I also love the fact that this show is right after another favorite of mine, Awkward. It makes life really convenient, as I’m fully occupied by the television from 10:00pm to 11:00pm.

It is kind of amazing how they condense so much information and cover so many topics within a 30-minute time frame, plus commercials. I’m telling you, I learned more about girls and guys in 30 minutes than I have in a really long time!
It is definitely a show that I recommend to all females, and I’m super excited to watch this coming Thursday’s episode!
Watch MTV’s new series GirlCode every Thursday, after Awkward. at 10:30 EST!
