It seems like years do not affect the Beastie Boys success, instead, just like wine it gets better with the years. As MCA himself said on ‘Make Some Noise’:“My rhymes age like wine as I get older/I’m getting bolder/ competition is waning”
As I was listening to the album, I noticed the cleverness in their lyrics, the freshness of the sound, the old school beats that remind us today of what hip-hop used to be back in the day and what it should be right now. The Beastie Boys are not certainly boys now, but are one of the few rappers that are still relevant and their style will never get old.
They’re back with their 8th studio album, ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part Two’, if you’re a hip-hop lover as I am, you will not even need to skip songs! The boys have kept it old school, and that’s why we all end up loving this album so much, in the midst of really bad lyrics and insignificant electronic beats, The Beastie Boys keep it classic and show all the kids out there trying to be rappers how its done.
The only collaborations in the album are with Nas and Santigold, each one of them providing a brilliant complement to each of their songs.
Some of my favorite songs are ‘Make Some Noise’, ‘Too Many Rappers’, ‘B-Boys In The Cut’
