Film Review: “Easy A” starring Emma Stone

We both love EASY A so much we decided to give you a double review of it!

Lucy says:

I had been expecting EASY for quite a long time. Why? Because I LOVE all of the actors in it. (Especially Mr. Penn Badgley)

I think the movie does show how high schools really are nowadays, teenagers have a powerful weapon (not really), and that is a phone. *cough* me *cough* Through Facebook, Twitter and texting, people rely on them to know what is going on.

This is why Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) gains popularity in her high school by making up rumors about herself. The rumors get out of control, and it’s funny because we notice how many times we hear gossip and exaggerate it to draw more attention.

I’m not going to go into much detail in the movie because I don’t want to spoil it, but it’s a comedy that teenagers (and even their parents) will enjoy.

For all of the John Hughes’ fans out there (like myself), there’s a scene you will love where some of his movies are mentioned. <3

Also, the soundtrack was amazing!
In conclusion, go watch it. If you’re down to get a good laugh, it is worth your money.

Gaby says:

In a time where many movies aimed for teenagers make you want to bang your head on the wall out of its sheer stupidity, comes the refreshing teen comedy, EASY A.

This movie was so enjoyable. The dialogue was witty and not cliché. The plot was strong, and the acting was great. (I totally want Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as parents.)

As Lucy stated above, Olive gets in a predicament where everyone thinks she’s the biggest slut, when really she’s a virgin. Instead of denying it, she basks in the attention, adorning her new risqué clothing with the letter A. In that ensues hilarity and heartbreak (perfectly exhibited by the very talented Stone).

Penn Badgley steps out of his normal characters, and plays a guy less serious and more adorable. Favorite Penn scene? Watching him rap “Happy Birthday” in a lobster hat.

EASY A is one of the teen comedies that deserves credit for being smart and funny. This movie is perfect for everyone, young and old.
