Sam really needed to get over his hotel drama this week on Dynasty. After reluctantly agreeing to keep the landmark status, he should’ve moved forward instead of focusing on the past. Complaining wouldn’t have reversed the decision; this landmark status was his reality now. And since he kept dwelling on the past, it nearly ruined his hotel launch party and the potential business momentum that would’ve made it a viable venture. Thankfully, we have Anders around to keep Sam in line – he’s proving to be the moral center that Dynasty needs during times like this.
“Mother? I’m at La Mirage” established a glamorous setting for all of Dynasty’s weekly conflicts in one place. This is the Gossip Girl effect to a tee – regardless of what’s going on and who is fighting with whom, a majority of the characters end up at the same place to let dramas explode, typically at a party. Drinks, stylish outfits, and soapy deception, all the ingredients of a glitzy affair. And regardless of how Sam complained of the night, the party looked like a success. Celebrities like Ashanti showed up, Vanessa performed a decent song, and the entertainment made it a lavish night. Plus, now with his collaboration with The Trevor Project, he’s setting the venue right on a good note; he should take Anders’ advice more often.
Speaking of Vanessa, things look too good to be true with her music career. Dominique might have won Jeff over to find talent for the streaming service, but once he discovers that she is Dominique’s stepdaughter, he will hold it against her for lying. He’s already suspicious of his mother and he knows what Dominique/Vanessa will do to put themselves in the limelight. Come on, you can’t poison Ashanti without that coming back to haunt you! Jeff and Monica are already deep in the music business to let anyone ruin their success.
I hope that Dominique will change her ways toward her children now that she’s discovered Jeff’s medical condition. The clock is ticking on their time together and she shouldn’t waste it with shady moves to steal things from him. However, Dominique is ambitious, ruthless, and power-hungry. Dominique using Jeff’s illness to steal the business and money away from him wouldn’t be a surprising move; she already tried that with his faked murder. Jeff and Monica should watch their backs against Dominique and Vanessa.
Cristal slowly has become a villain in her own right instead of the anti-hero who started during the series premiere of Dynasty. Sure, that was a different Cristal (i.e. Cristal vs. Cristal), but even within the past season alone, the Cristal of Dynasty Season 2 was nobler than the Cristal of Dynasty Season 3. The show is shaping her to be a more cutthroat and ruthless character who would gladly do nefarious moves for the family … and against the family. Even with their troubles, Cristal wanting to send Adam away was low. Their petty arguments over the wine business shouldn’t have warranted her planning to get rid of him; as much as Adam is evil, he needed their help. If all her schemes blew up in her face and implicated her, that would be karma coming to collect.
A romance could be blooming between Adam and Nadia. “Mother? I’m at La Mirage” set up plenty of scenes where the pair had started bonding and forming an unspoken connection. We could be seeing them partner together as a new pair, and once Adam gets his sight back, this could be a case of love at first sight. On the other hand, Nadia seemed to become a turncoat pretty quickly. Literally, she just met Adam and wants to help him takedown Cristal? That’s a little too fast.
Fallon has to get her life back in check because she’s making the same short-sighted and reckless moves that she did in the past. For example, with Femperial, her tactics to takedown and get revenge on Kirby would only hurt her and the business in the end – as well as Liam’s career. Kirby thought of the business first to choose a trained and established CEO to run Femperial and make it a viable company; in a matter of minutes, Fallon ruined all that. By taking away the business lease and trained leader, she’s ruining the business and hurting Liam’s chance to keep making books.
In the case of Evan, I don’t think Fallon was leading him on. She spoke right upfront about troubles with her fiancé and she gave their first date a chance at the party. Her puppet-master plan to takedown Kirby, on the other hand, made it complicated because it was also in honor of Liam. Of course, she would have conflicted feelings about everything; her relationship was ambiguous and potentially over. Now that she’s ready to explore her feelings with Evan, she can finally focus on the romance and not making reckless decisions.

Though, now that Liam has his memory back, it will no doubt throw a huge wrench into the Liam/Fallon/Evan dynamic. Which, and I don’t say this lightly as a shipper of Liam and Fallon, was so frustratingly exhausting. Liam was ready to throw away any relationship he had built with Fallon because he didn’t have his memory and was unsure of what he wanted. Having amnesia is not an excuse! After all the effort Fallon went into showing him the truth, his indifference to let it all go proved that he doesn’t deserve her love. Liam getting his memory back doesn’t fix any of that. If he remembers and wants to be back with Fallon, he needs to work and earn her love again. Point. Blank. Period.
“Mother? I’m at La Mirage” tested relationships over their greater goals in life. Whether it was the hotel, music, book or love business, someone had to face the realities of their poor judgment. Luckily, most overcame their internal struggles and pushed their character development further. Now, we’ll have to see if their decisions will come back to haunt them. (Looking at you, Liam and Cristal.)
