We have our Final 3 houseguests, Big Brother fans. Tyler, Kaycee, and JC might not have been the ones we guessed pre-season, but they’re the ones we got at the end of Week 12. (If you correctly picked them… congrats, you master of prediction!) Each houseguest has won challenges and/or built relationships that pushed them further. What set them apart from the Final 5 that came after Week 11 was that they kept fighting to stay on Big Brother 20. Sam and Angela didn’t have the same fire, let alone try.
The first half of Big Brother 20’s Week 12 focused on Level 6’s continued domination of the house and the inevitable eviction of Sam. Level 6 will go down as one of the most powerful alliances in Big Brother history based on their challenge prowess, connections, and their control of the summer. This trend, which we’ve reviewed and discussed all summer, continued for another week. In this case, the series of events would produce another predictable round. Once Angela and Kaycee won the Head of Household and Power of Veto competitions, JC and Sam had no hope of avoiding the eviction vote.
None of the Level 6ers had a reason to turn against each other in a 3/2 (or more like 3-1-1) split, so Angela/Tyler/Kaycee made the right move. With so few people left in the game, the odds to go farther are better to work with familiar and trustworthy allies. Plus, the trio had stronger relationships with each other compared to the others, and Level 6 was dead set on reaching the Final 3 together. They were doing so well until they made a bad call with Sam’s eviction.
Sam got in way over her head when she signed up for Big Brother 20. Look, she’s a sweet person with some hypocritical and heated tendencies, but she’s not made for a strategic TV show like Big Brother. Sam never played the game – she focused more on cleaning the house, talking with people, and sitting back from all the drama by doing nothing. Sam wasn’t a “Floater,” she was a “Coaster.” She didn’t campaign for herself to not get voted out. And that’s why she should’ve been the perfect person to keep around!
In Big Brother lingo, a Coaster is someone who does nothing in the game. Coasters don’t strategize, don’t actively compete to win, don’t make big decisions/alliances or chart their path. In essence, their biggest contribution is turning oxygen into carbon dioxide. (Think of Jenn from Big Brother 14 or Matt from Big Brother 19.) People get Floaters and Coasters mixed up all the time. JC was actively strategizing and making strong relationships, whereas Sam was only doing the latter. Level 6 should’ve taken out the potential jury threat and they only had themselves to blame when JC won the following Head of Household competition.
Karma delivered the perfect blindside on Week 12. Level 6 was not prepared for when JC won HOH since it ruined all of their plans. With him winning safety, someone from the trio would get the boot, but true to form, the alliance stuck to a predictable decision. This move was a bad decision because it went against the better strategic option for the POV winner’s own game.
Kaycee should’ve voted Tyler out of Big Brother 20 instead of Angela. The consensus in the jury house was that Angela had no shot of winning the game. Scottie confirmed as much when he returned on Week 10. Angela the ice queen destroyed her chances with her nasty goodbye messages and distant attitude – she was the perfect person to take to the Final 2. Tyler is Kaycee’s biggest competition because he has a strong case to win Big Brother 20 with his challenge wins, strategic moves, and strong relationships. Kaycee had a better chance to claim victory sitting next to Angela compared to Tyler.
Angela was also to blame for her exit. While her chances to win were slim, she still had a chance nonetheless. Throwing in the towel for her showmance with Tyler might have been noble and she loved him, but let’s face it… she gave up. A note to future houseguests: There is always a chance! Never stop fighting until the houseguests enter the diary room to give their votes. Angela could’ve made the perfect case to secure herself prize money. Instead, she proved yet again that she didn’t care about winning Big Brother. Seriously, we need more players who actually want to play AND win!

A few of the positives of Week 12 included the maze Power of Veto competition and the jury segments. Seeing the jury segments were a treat as we got to witness the current mood and where votes could be going. Bayleigh, Rockstar, and Sam seem like they’ll vote emotionally, while Haleigh and Brett might vote more rationally. Based on the two clips, Kaycee’s stock with the jury rose extremely high. Right now, she has the best shot to win, while Tyler is coming in at a close second. His social game worked well in the Big Brother 20 house, but its power imploded in the jury house.
Week 12 of Big Brother 20 captured the highs and lows of Level 6’s path to the Final 3. The story of Big Brother 20 has slowly transitioned into being the tale of how Level 6 won… or how they lost. The best scenario would be Kaycee vs. Tyler since the votes would be a tight race, but if JC makes it to the Final 2, the narrative could completely change to being about the alliance overall.
