As we near the ending of Once Upon A Time the residents of Hyperion Heights are starting to become more aware of who they really are. Thanks to Lucy, many of the characters are seeing the clues that surround them with their true identities.
While this might seem like a good thing, the heroes are in more danger now more than ever, especially now knowing that when they were in the dark, Mother Gothel reawakened her “sisters.”
“Flower Child” shows the origin of Mother Gothel and how she became the ringleader of a coven. It turns out that Gothel is really not a witch, but a magical creature who can change her light green appearance to look like a human. When she was younger and in another world, she wanted to be like the humans and not the magical creature she is.
She befriended nearby princesses who later tricked her into thinking she was one of them. At a grand ball, they embarrassed her and told her she didn’t belong in their world.
Gothel ran back home where she found out her mother, who’s kind of like Mother Nature, was dying after humans destroyed their home and killed her sister. The magic inside of her became strong and her hate for humans turned her into the dark witch she is now.
In retaliation to killing the magic in their land and her family, Mother Gothel killed everyone in the castle who ruined her home and with the help of another witch, they leave their magicless land to find others like them.
This brings us to Hyperion Heights, where Hook is starting to believe in magic after Naveen gave him a hint about Hazel’s death. Hook realized that Hazel was stabbed from inside his heart and beginning to put it all together. Naveen told Hook that Hazel was hunting down a witches’ coven and not a cult. Gothel’s coven.
Mother Gothel, on the other hand, had just reawakened her “sisters” to reclaim what was once theirs. To finish off her circle of crazy, Gothel must bring one final witch into the circle, her daughter Alice/Tilly. Remember, Gothel tricked Hook into sleeping with her to produce Alice and then locked her in the tower.

Gothel approached Alice and tells her she is her mother and hopes she will forgive her. Afterward, Alice told Hook what happened and how scared she was. The two then stood to watch to see what Gothel was up to.
The duo accidentally followed Gothel into her lair where the coven was waiting for them. Gothel revealed to Alice that Hook was her father from another land and that their connection was a father-daughter bond. She tells Alice that the only way Hook will survive is if she casts the spell with the coven.
Alice goes through with it because she doesn’t want to be the reason Hook is killed. As the spell is being cast, a giant ball of fire erupts from the center of the coven’s circle before cutting to black.
While the fate of Hyperion Heights hangs in the balance, the true heroes of the story are finally putting the pieces together. Henry has come to the conclusion that Lucy was right about everything. He’s started to figure it out and tries to get Jacinda to believe, too.

It’s not until Lucy and Jacinda go through an old box where they find a bag from Granny’s from back in Storybrooke that Jacinda begins to believe. Inside is the cracked glass slipper that belonged to Cinderella, proving that Lucy was right the whole time.
While Jacinda is elated and confused, Lucy takes the glass slipper and gives it to Dr. Facilier. He told Lucy he was trying to save Henry’s life and break the curse.
It is still not known whose side he is really on though. Ever since he was introduced, Dr. Facilier has told people he is trying to save Henry. However, Dr. Facilier only does what is best for him.
It’ll be interesting to see how the final episodes play out because after doing his voodoo magic on Henry, he and Jacinda were able to kiss without him dying. The downside is that the curse didn’t break.

If true love’s kiss no longer works, I think it’s time for the writers to bring in the big Once Upon A Time guns: the original heroes.
