Hello and welcome to yet another episode of Directors of Cinema, the show that highlights the careers of cinema’s most prominent directors. Each week, host Matt Goudreau and guest discuss selected works of a chosen director.
To celebrate this week’s release of the anticipated Blade Runner 2049, Matt and returning guest Michael Fairbanks (who first came on to discuss Matthew Vaughn) decided to discuss the career of Denis Villeneuve. After breaking onto the scene with 2010’s Incendies, Villeneuve has gone on to direct several critically acclaimed films such as Prisoners and Arrival. With his somewhat short but successful career thus far, Matt and Michael answer the question as to whether or not Villeneuve is a prime example of quality over quantity. Please note that there are spoilers ahead, which is why we recommend you see all of his films before listening. Otherwise, enjoy at your own risk.
