“Story Eight” of The Guest Book was filled with accents, bad flirting, and a coked-out bear. Trailer-park-boy Tommy (Andrew J. West) decides to take his trailer-park-girl Marla (Shannon Woodward) to the mountains in an effort to wean her off crystal meth.
Tommy misses his lady being clean so he decides a night at Froggy Cottage would be the best place to begin her withdrawal. After the Froggy Cottage’s toilet gets ripped from the hinges, the owners decide to keep it vacant for a week. Because he has no money, Tommy decides it’s the perfect place to break into for Marla’s sake.
Probably the best part about the Marla and Tommy dynamic is West’s country-boy accent. West has played multiple characters over the past few years and this one has definitely been his funniest. Watching him pine for his loved one’s previous self while narrating in a country accent was the cherry on top of the wacky episode.
Tommy flushes Marla’s meth down the toilet and as she begins to withdraw, she reveals sad parts of her past. Instead of supporting her, Tommy becomes excited that Marla is feeling emotions again. Caught up in the moment, Tommy tells her he flushed her meth down the toilet. Things take a turn for the worst as she tackles him and says she’s going to kill him.
The “I’m trying to kill you scene” was pretty hysterical because they have to stay low throughout the sequence. The owner put timers on the lights so to not blow their “we broke into your house” cover, they have to stay out of sight of the windows so they’re not caught.
Tommy reminds Marla that she loves him but she states she loves her meth more and by her actions, you would believe it. But all of that doesn’t matter because in the middle of their fight to the death a bear walks into the cabin. He doesn’t stay long because he inhales the remnants of Marla’s meth in the sink.
Whoever decided to create a coked-out bear deserves an award because that scene was so out of the box, but also perfect for this story line. Bears roaming around near cabins is such a common thing, but having the bear get high off of meth, that is something out of a comedic mind.
In the end, Marla watching a bear get high in front of her was what she needed to straighten up and agree to be sober. She agrees to finally marry Tommy and the two ride off the next morning happy as ever.

But they’re not the only ones with a love connection. Kimberly the cop gets cozy with Dr. Brown in “Story Eight.” Dr. Brown reveals he can’t date her yet because his divorce isn’t final. However, Kimberly finds a way for Dr. Brown to move on. She finds his wife’s Tinder which she created a year ago. This shows Dr. Brown that his wife was over their marriage before he was, meaning he and Kimberly can start dating without it being weird. Ah, love is a great thing, yet a weird thing in this mountain town.
