The two-hour season four premiere of Bachelor in Paradise informed fans on what really happened on the Mexico beach two months ago when production shut down. While nothing incriminating was shown on air, the premiere did end the moment both Corinne and DeMario were pulled away by producers, ultimately leading the crew to shut down.
On the second night of the two-night Paradise event, we head down the aisle to former Bachelor in Paradise season 3 couple, Carly Waddell and Evan Bass. They were a couple that I was never rooting for last season of Paradise, but just like Evan stole Carly’s heart, their quirky couple-ness stole mine.
While their televised wedding is not as big of a production as past Bachelor couples, it was perfect for them as the former cruise ship singer and current erectile dysfunction guy said their “I Do’s.”
Carly looked gorgeous in her strapless mermaid-style gown while carrying a bouquet exploding with color. Not just the bouquet, but the entire ceremony was bursting with color. The bridesmaids donned floral gowns and giant flower crowns, colorful paper poms hung from the trees and wedding officiant Chris Harrison rocked a bright cobalt blue blazer. If anyone wants to do a Mexican beach wedding, they need to revert to Carly and Evan’s because while simple, it was gorgeous to watch.
One of the cool parts about their wedding was a shaman came to bless them. He was from one of their more intimate dates during their Paradise courtship and it was one of the turning points in their relationship. The ceremony was able to bring Carly and Evan’s relationship full circle.
Speaking of full circles, the second hour of the two-hour event focused on the contestants, minus Corinne and DeMario, coming back to Paradise. Chris kicks off their pow-wow on what did and didn’t happen, as well as what needs to change going forward. This felt like a weird group therapy session, but in the end, the cast agreed nothing bad happened and that they had full confidence in the producers and crew.
After the cast confessions, they jump right back in where Paradise left off: the girls handing out the first roses. Well, sort of. The girls have one full day back before they have to decide who gets their rose and honestly it’s a snooze fest.
Mostly, no one is in the same place they were before Paradise shut down and they are all having to start over. At this point, they should have thrown some new people into the mix because the second hour barely held my attention. This should have only been a one-hour episode focusing on Carry and Evan’s wedding with the cast returning as a quick and easy bookend.
