College brings big changes in ‘Awkward.’ 5B Preview

The Awkward. season 5B trailer is here, which means it’s almost time to say goodbye to Jenna, Matty, Tamara, and the rest of the Awkward. gang! Minus Ming, of course, who we had to say goodbye to somewhere in the third season when she disappeared from the cast. When we last left Jenna, she and Matty were driving to his college, high on love and the belief that they were going to make it after all–only to have her voiceover tell us that would prove incorrect. The upcoming half of the season is going to jump forward to the first summer after college, saving us from the customary fumbling-through-college storylines that plague most teen shows. Fresh from her freshman year, Jenna returns home with an internship at an internet start-up–and very little idea what’s been happening with her friends over the course of the year.

As you can see, there are some big changes–when did Sadie and Tamara become BFFs? Looks like Sergio has a new girlfriend, and Matty has a baby?! For all of these changes, at least one thing stays the same: plenty of awkward moments abound. Case in point: the trailer opens with Jenna accidentally flashing Tamara via Skype, presumably thinking it was Matty. Yikes. Never change, Awkward.
