The 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place tonight, honoring the best performances in movies and TV from the past year.
Orange Is The New Black is a big winner of the night with two awards for Uzo Aduba in Best Female Actor in a Comedy series and Best Comedy Series Ensemble. For the most part though, SAG spread the love awarding actors and actresses from different films and shows. A couple surprises were William H. Macy for his work in Shameless and Mark Ruffalo for The Normal Heart (which Julia Roberts gave an extra shout-out to). The film categories went as expected and seem to be locks for Oscar wins next month.
Overall, the show went swiftly, which isn’t something you can say about most award shows. I especially enjoyed that they honored someone as wonderfully talented and unique as Debbie Reynolds.
