The 16th Annual D.I.C.E. Summit took place last week, concluding with its highly anticipated awards ceremony. A number of keynote presentations were given by various gaming professionals including industry rock stars Gabe Newell of Valve Corporation and Frank O’Connor of 343 Industries. J.J. Abrams was also on hand to announce that he will be collaborating with Gabe Newell and Valve on some undisclosed future projects. Gabe did manage to sneak in a comment about a Portal or Half-Life film adaptation but we will just have to wait and see if more concrete details come to light. A complete list of all of the keynotes presented can be found here.
The annual D.I.C.E. awards ceremony capped off the summit as usual, with awards going out to some of the best game released within the past year. Journey took home more than its fair share of trophies with a few nods to the downloadable game adaptation of The Walking Dead. Telltale Games’ adaptation of AMC’s popular TV show took home Game of the Year at the annual Video Game Awards on Spike TV back in December. Here is list of some of the big awards that were given out during the D.I.C.E. Summit’s final event.

Also be sure to check out the introduction movie for the awards ceremony. It features a lot of cool, live action clips for many of the night’s nominees and winners. I’ve never wanted a portal gun as badly as I do now.
