UPDATE: It looks like there was a mix up with the track listing. Ella Mae Bowen’s song is out, and now we have one from Maroon 5! Also, many of the track names were mismatched or changed. This is coming from a new tracklist for the album from iTunes. Lionsgate has yet to confirm or deny these changes, but we figure if it’s on iTunes, it’s most likely correct. Check out the CORRECTED tracklist below. (2/17/2012)
When I heard that The Hunger Games was releasing a companion soundtrack, I was so happy. Not because I like companion soundtracks (I kind of don’t), but I felt that movie would work better with an instrumental musical score, not with songs. Even though I thought that, I still wanted to hear some Hunger Games original songs. Especially since I learned that T. Bone Burnett is the music supervisor of the film (and I am obsessed with his Oscar-winning song “Crazy Heart”), I knew that he would create and bring in great artists to perform some original music. Luckily, Lionsgate seemed to read my mind and delivered.
The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond Tracklist:

2. Eyes Open – Taylor Swift
3. Abraham’s Daughter – Arcade Fire
4. Come Away (feat. Rozzi Crane) – Maroon 5
5. The Ruler and The Killer – Kid Cudi
6. Run Daddy Run (feat. Pistol Annies) – Miranda Lambert
7. Kingdom Come – Neko Case
8. One Engine – The Decemberists
9. Take The Heartland – Glen Hansard
10. Lover Is Childlike – The Low Anthem
11. Dark Days – Punch Brothers
12. Tomorrow Will Be Kinder – The Secret Sisters
13. The Daughter’s Lament – The Carolina Chocolate Drops
14. Nothing to Remember – Neko Case
15. Just a Game – Birdy
16. Rules – Jayme Dee
I love most of these artists! Getting Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars to do the first single was brilliant. Not only is it a great song, but Swift has convinced her millions of fans to go out and start reading The Hunger Games. Check out the new music video for “Safe and Sound” here:
