Jay-Z and Kanye West – Watch The Throne Tour
Do you want to experience the most hyped up vibe in a concert? Go Watch The Throne.
This is by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to if not the best one overall so far, from beginning to end Kanye West and Jay-Z put on a great show, there are no opening acts, it’s just two of hip-hop’s greatest for two hours straight singing some of their classic songs as well as all of their songs from their collab album, Watch The Throne. The setlist is lengthy, to those of you who are considering going (don’t even doubt it for once!), get ready for around 40 or so songs performed. These guys don’t need hype men or dancers on stage, the amount of energy Yeezy and Hova deliver on stage is unbelievable, it even made people who didn’t even know their songs get up from their seats and start moving their hands. There was a main stage and two small cube stages in the middle of the arena’s floor that were made out of screens that would display imagery that would go along with their songs as well as an amazing light show that was put on full effect during “All of The Lights”.
One of the things I liked the most about the concert was the variety and order of songs that The Throne performed. The show started off with “H.A.M”, followed by “Who Gon Stop Me” and “Otis”, and after performing some of their songs from Watch The Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye would take turns performing some of their solo classics and in between would perform Throne songs together. Jay-Z performed songs from back in the day, like “Izzo”, “Big Pimpin”, “99 Problems” that made the crowd go wild as well as some of his latest songs like “On To The Next One”, “Run This Town” and “Empire State of Mind”. Kanye West performed some of his biggest hits like “Flashing Lights”, “Gold Digger”, “Jesus Walks” and “Good Life” that had more than one getting up from their seats chanting the songs’ chorus. At some points both of them would be on stage, helping out the other with their songs, like in “99 Problems” Kanye would say the verse where the cop stops Jay-Z in the song, or Jay-Z would be singing Jamie Foxx’s verse in “Gold Digger”, you get to see the camaraderie between the two and the support they have for each other.
The light show made the concert even better, there was fire, smoke and screens all over the place showing not only both singers but as well as imagery that went along with the songs, for example in “Welcome To The Jungle” they would show video of animals in the jungle, for “Made in America” they showed a montage of Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, between other significant figures of American history.

The hyped up mood of the concert would become more calm during songs like “New Day” in which Kanye and Jay-Z praised the fathers of the audience who take care of their kids, and also in “Runaway” in which Kanye partially lost his voice, and still dedicated the song to those in the audience who were in love and said singing “if you love someone tonight, just hold them tight“. Last but not least, the song that made the crowd go overboard was “Ni**as in Paris” which they performed not once but THREE times! And every single time people were singing even louder than the one before.
Overall, this has been by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life, the energy Jay-Z and Kanye put on stage had the whole audience singing, dancing and cheering two of hip-hop’s greatest for a collaboration album and tour that will be remembered as a classic.
